I was previously using the basic wikipedia to find famous events as i didn't know of any good websites for this sort of thing.
However i found this website http://www.historyorb.com/
It's very detailed and has alot of infomation on famous events, landmarks, birthdays etc. Very helpful site if your interested in history and stuff, like i am.
