RE: 360 or PS3
jungleboy Wrote:Ok good point cherry, but my xbox is plugged into the router, i have rechargeable batteries for the 360, and i dont use live, so i spose out of them the only expense for me would be the live. I do agree on the sound of the xbox but i never play it on mute so i never notice it. I have never used a ps3 so i cant comment on them. What are the ps3 bad points?
mmmmm...I'd agree theres more games available on the XBox, you have to remember that the PS3 was released over a year later..
Everyone tells me that the XBox has a better online service...
To be honest, I can't think of many bad points for the PS3, all in all, it is a quality unit..

A Spider Monkey Wrote:Both are good units and as I said earlier it really is a coin toss over which one to choose. As they both have their strong points. The deciding factor for me, was that when I decided to uprgrade from the PS2 the Xbox was considerably cheaper than the PS3, but that's not really the case now as the difference only about £20 quid or so.
I'd say PS3 for the Blu Ray player, if nothing else..Like Spider Monkey says it's only a £20 difference in terms of the price of the consoles and a stand alone blu ray player will still set you back well over a £100..

RE: 360 or PS3
Bad points for PS3:
More Expensive straight off the bat, plus if you want to play online a good quality bluetooth headset is upwards of £50 and even then they aren't anywhere near as good as the headset you get with the 360, that comes free.
Newer consoles have not got full backwards compatibility and Sony don't seem to be doing anything about this, Microsoft at least gives patches so backwards compatibity with games is constantly updated.
Distinct lack of high quality games in comparison to the 360.
Online community is not as easy to access, like the friends and stuff are much easier to do on the 360.
Non-customisable, it is black, it will always be black, you can't add skins like with the 360.
And while I am not too sure if it still gets bundled with the six-axis controller, the six-axis is shit and flimsy, it feels like it is going to break in your hand, if it is now bundled with the Dual-Shock 3 then this point doesn't apply.

some good points all round..
I have to make it clear that I'm not loyal to any console, I go with the flow...

RE: 360 or PS3
Oh and if you have a download limit on your internet then the PS3 updates are like 150mb and take for-fucking-ever, while never actually seeming to change AYTHING about the console, just really small crappy things, whereas the 360 ones are about 5 mb and done rapidly, albeit still not seeming to change much. But even the huge update that changed everything about the 360 interface only took 6 mins and was like 70ish mb. There is a massive difference in updates for games too, 360 game updates take about 10 seconds to update and PS3 games take up to 10 minutes. Plus there are mandatory installs on some games on the PS3 that don't have them on the 360 (DMC 4 for example) that are like 3-5gb of memory. So if you ever want to play that game that information has to be on memory, or you have to install the game again. Oh and the 'Big' PS3 exclusive MGS4 updates for 5-10 minutes every hour or so DURING the game (every time you complete a chapter), which is beyond a fucking joke.
Oh and as opposed to the music player on the 360, you cannot listen to your own music during PS3 games, on the 360 if you do it right, you can listen to your own music on original Xbox games, you have to have the music playing in the guide then play the game if you were wondering how.
