How do you subscribe to TVX on freeview? Can it be done with a regular Freeview box, or do you need a Top up TV decoder?

An ordinary box will do. It does not need a C1 card slot.
You have to phone them and are given a 4 digit pin number after you give them the I.D. number which is displayed on your box when you tune into the channel.
ie the 4 digit PIN is unique to your box and only works for that night.
You get 5 goes to enter the correct pin. You might get lucky without paying.
I think you get charged via your credit card.

Apologies if this has been answered before, is there any technical reason why a channel could broadcast encrypted, but have a single 'universal' PIN?

If it is possible, the PIN could be available on screen alongside text indicating that by entering it you agree your understanding of the content - just like many websites have 'disclaimer' splash pages which require you to confirm you're over 18 etc.

Surely this would eliminate the channel-flicking-complainers who are essentially exposed to the terrible corrupting sight of naked women against their will by accidentally landing on the channels. Anyone who enters the PIN forgoes their right to be offended or complain, I don't know where the law or Ofcom would stand on that, but it would demonstate an effort on the channels' part to protect those who shouldn't, or wouldn't want to, see the content.

Of course I'm not saying that the content should then be hard, we know that'll never happen, but surely full nudity and touching/stroking couldn't then be objected to by Ofcom when it's behind a warning and requires your actions to view it.

I'm new to freeview access, so you'll have to excuse my naivety regarding
content regulations and Ofcom's clearly outdated views.

There would be a cost involved in setting it up, so unless viewers were going to be charged I don't know if it would be practical.

I am assuming if you get the babestation channels on sky we will have access as well?

The new channel is a freeview channel and not a satellite channel.

well to me this idea is starting to smell like an over cooked turkey,. not a live show?, prerecorded footage of B.S. girls being a little naughty showing pus? seriously m8 how many shows do you think you could get away with b4 you loose your subscribers.
1s the guys have seen a girl a few times showing a little pink they then want more, but they wont be able to deliver(ofcom bbfc rules). they can only strip and play so many times b4 the viewer gets bored even with the best girls on your roster,.
say you have 5 and a half to 7 hours to fill, each girl takes about 15 mins to get nekid and a 5 minute pink show (being generous here, knowing full well they cant do pink) thats between 15 to 20 shows per night every night. say an average of 3-5 girls per night doing 3,4 or 5 shows each. thats a lot of prerecording...
end result is probably by the end of your first week you will have run out of girls doing fresh shows, by the end of the first month you will be rehashing old shows as filler because you wont be able to prerecord new stuff quick enough...
to my eye it will have limited success as most just wont want to pay the sub's after we have seen even our fave girl 3-4 times a nite 2-3 times a week.

yeah this is a cynical view but we have all seen what happens to adult ppv channels on freeview. tvx and redhot ended up sharing a channel because it wasn't worth there while operating 2. so all i see is a short term gain for cellcast, and freeview punters getting mugged off for a few weeks till they get wise and then don't bother...

when i was single i watched porn, but rarely did i watch the same girl more than twice, even talent like lolly and angel, and after a couple of weeks i just couldn't watch another movie because each 1 was like the last even though they claimed to be different... u see where im going with this?... even with hardcore there is a limit to its entertainment value and tamer shows will have even less... never mind longevity...

so there you have it, my honest opinion on this venture, and that is cloudy with a chance of hale...
don't get my cynicism wrong, i would dearly love to see a harder show but you cant deliver R18 and its doubtful that you could deliver anything more explicit than is currently allowed on encrypted tv which we all know is shit.

Is there any room on freeview though? I thought all the space on freeview was just about accounted for now, is it true?
