RE: Wrestlemania 26 Discussion Thread
well i'm chiffed that swagger won- i was rooting for him and dolph. hhh/sheamus was a pleasant surprise, as was cena/batista- even though having cena win was a bad move. taker/michaels was pretty good match- more psychological than last years years match. sadly bret/vince was dire. all bret could do was throw a few punches (that vince sold pathetically for), plus the match was layed out in a really shit manner that seemed so rushed and cobbled together- first vince says he'd payed the hart family to be lumberjacks and that they were siding with him, then 2 minutes later bret reveals the family had already told him about vinces 'dastardly plan' and that the family were actually still on brets side; plus the match was booked as if vince was the babyface who took tons of abuse and couldn't take it anymore and tapped. and i thought brets previous 'last match' against kevin nash on nitro was a sad way to go out. another average 'mania which YET AGAIN failed to properly build the future talent up.

RE: Wrestlemania 26 Discussion Thread
before you start reading this post you should know that there's a lot of reading to do as i've written down just about everything that happened at this event so if you don't feel like reading a very long post i suggest you stop reading right now.

you'd think that a wrestling event with a strong card like this would be fantastic but unfortunately the event just couldn't possibly live up to the hype (in fact had it not been for the main event this probably would have been the worst wrestlemania of all time). here are the matches in the order they took place:

match 1: big show and the miz vs john morrison and r-truth (wwe tag team championship)
i wouldn't say this match was bad but for some reason it did feel quite boring (probably because of the lack of build up) it felt like a raw or smackdown match and not worthy of being part of wrestlemania. luckily it was short and the right team won in the end (big show and miz).

match 2: randy orton vs cody rhodes vs ted dibiase (triple threat match)
to be honest i was quite suprised that this match was this early in the card especially since orton was in the main event last year. this match was quite predictacble with rhodes and dibiase double teaming orton for the first half of the match then both of them turning against each other when one of them tried to go for the pin and the other one pulled him off. as rhodes and dibiase argued and fought against each other, orton took advantage of the situation and beat both of them decisively with a kick to rhodes' head and a rko to dibiase and got the win.

match 3: money in the bank ladder match
i was a bit worried that this year's ladder match wouldn't be as good as previous years since there were 10 men in this match which ment a lot could go wrong. thankfully it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be but still not great either. evan bourne was quite impressive in this match with his best spot being a shooting star press of a horizontal ladder. at one point kane even broke one ladder of it's hinges and kofi even tried to use the unhinged ladders as stilts to try and grab the briefcase. i was suprised to see that jack swagger was the one who won the match (he had enough trouble unhooking the briefcase though) especially since wwe hasn't done anything with him for months. let's hope that wwe will push him now and at least make a new star that isn't triple h's friend, speaking of which......

match 4: triple h vs sheamus
even though this was the first of the "big name" matches of the night, i wasn't really excited about this match. the match wasn't good or bad just average with sheamus hitting the same moves over and over again and triple h doing his best to try and get a good wrestling match out of him. even though i don't like him i still felt that sheamus should have won in the end because if wwe wants to make him into a star then he has to win matches and a win for triple h won't do anything new for his career.

match 5: rey mysterio vs c m punk
in my opinion this match could have been great had it been booked right and given enough time. unfortunately it wasn't. still mysterio (who looked like an avatar character) and punk managed to put on a good match despite the short amount of time they were given with mysterio winning in the end. hopefully their feud will continue and be given more time in wwe's next pay per view.

match 6: bret hart vs vince mcmahon (no holds barred)
if ever there was a match that was overhyped and failed to deliver then this was it. just before the match started vince brought the hart family to ringside as lumberjacks (and have bruce hart as the referee) thinking he got his advantage over bret but bret fooled vince and told him that his family was actually on his side. i wasn't expecting anything great here because of bret's health problems and vince just simply can't wrestle but this match was just an abomination (seriously this match makes goldberg vs lesnar look like a 5 star match). this match was basically bret hart vs a punching bag, vince didn't even get one shot at hart it was completely one-sided. all bret did was punch, kick, use a chair and tyre iron and finish mcmahon off with the sharpshooter. in my opinion the saddest part about this match is that this is how the current wwe audience will remember bret hart instead of the bret hart who put on loads of 5 star matches back in the 90's.

match 7: chris jericho vs edge (world heavyweight championship)
after what had been a terrible event so far (no matter how much the commentators would say otherwise) this was the first match on the card that i truly enjoyed. the way jericho would constantly attack edge's ankle kind of reminded me of his match with triple h at wrestlemania 18 since that match had a similar storyline to this. unfortunately the crowd seemed dead during this match (probably due to the previous matches) and their lack of reaction to this match kept it from being better. in the end it was jericho that won but edge continued to fight with him after the match as he put jericho on one announcer's table, stood on another table and speared him through the ringside barricade.

match 8: ten divas tag team match
i missed most of the match since i went to take a piss and get a snack but i came back just in time to see vickie guerrero hit THE worst frog splash of all time on kelly kelly and she even botched the pinfall before winning with a second pinfall atempt.

match 9: batista vs john cena (wwe championship)
well this match really suprised me because it was actually good (yes you read that right). both cena and batista seemed to wrestle at a faster pace than usual and they really got the crowd excited with all the near victories throughout the match. in the end though it was cena who won (as usual) when he locked batista in the stf and made him tap out.

match 10: undertaker vs shawn michaels (the streak vs the career)
for all the mistakes that the wwe seems to be making recently at least they did the right thing by putting this match on last. now on to the big question. was this match as good as last year's? well not quite. it was still a fantastic match and by far the best match of the night but it just lacked the excitement of last year's match probably because it was nearly identical to last year's match and because of that this match just didn't have as much wow factor. in the end it was the undertaker that won when he a hit a leaping tombstone on michaels (his second tombstone by the way) and got the pin. so the undertaker is still undefeated at wrestlemania but what about shawn michaels? have we truly seen the last of shawn michaels or is he just taking some time off? i guess only time will tell.

so there you have it, a mostly terrible event that had a few good matches that weren't given enough time but was saved by the main event. if wwe continues this trend of overhyped but terrible wrestlemanias then the company will be in serious trouble.

Doubtful considering the current writing going on.

I have a Hall of Fame ring..! I HAVE SUPER POWERS!

That alone put me off TNA.

One last thing, Michaels took 3 Tombstones last night, not 2. He took one outside the ring too. The moonsault needed mentioning too. Although Michaels almost missed, it was awesome.

RE: Wrestlemania 26 Discussion Thread
I enjoyed the show last night, may get the DVD when it comes out. All in all it was a good show I liked it more than last years and 23 but it wasn't as good as 24 or 22, just taking a smaller sample to compare with, at the end of the day it wasn't in the worst 5 Manias or in the top 5 Manias.

I liked the MITB, it was better than I thought it would be with all those guys in and nice to see Swagger win or though it's fairly likely that he won't win the title when he cashes in. The Legacy, HHH/Sheamus, Mysterio/Punk and Hart/McMahon matches were all as I expected going into the night. Taker/Micheals and Cena/Batista a tad better and although I was gutted with the outcome of the WHC match I liked and hope to see a Ladder/TLC rematch at Extreme Rules.

TNA's booking is laughable, I'm half given up on it and when I will be out after cricket on Saturdays during the summer I doubt I will bother with Impact.

RE: Wrestlemania 26 Discussion Thread
Best match for me without a doubt, and by some distance the most entertaining on the card was Undertaker vs Michaels. Smile

Poorest matches were Bret v Vince and Show/Miz v Morrison/RTruth, two pretty much throw away matches. annoyed

The event was saved somewhat by the Taker vs HBK and title matches, but I noticed a number of messed up moves throughout the event, even Jack Swagger struggled to un-hook the briefcase in the money in the bank.... Huh

Not the best Wrestlemania by a long way. Not the worst either, but the WWE really could do with getting their act together better at the pay-per-views. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed parts of it, but there were lots of matches I was disappointed with.

I think the Elimination chamber event was better than this year's wrestlemania, there were more twists and surprises there. bladewave

excellent news. i've been wanting swagger to be given a main event run for ages maybe now it'll finally happen; even if they've done nothing to build him up for it (with the exception of winning MITB). now he needs to have a good 3 months with the belt for his reign to have any long term meaning.
