RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
THE MIST a quality old style horror/monster movie based on a story by Stephen King and Directed by Frank Darabont, very different but just as good as their two previous films The green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption.
Lots of behind the scenes and making of features, commentary by the Director, some deleted scenes but best of all,in my opinion,on the second disc the film is in black & white for all us crusty old horror buffs and it works so well.

RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
I watched Green Zone on Blu-Ray and the sound is brilliant but because the film has been purposely made to look grainy (like Collateral) I think the standard DVD would of been enough for this film, upping the quality of a grainy film makes it look even grainier IMHO.

You're not for this world, this world is for you.

RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
got 3 good ones.

firstly i got independence day on blu-ray in my local tesco's for only £8 one of my fav sci fi films ever. Also this past week got the fantastic District 9 on bluray for only £12 also in tesco's which is a bargain

also got Preadtor:Ultimate Edition last week which is better than the previous release of predator on blu-ray which had just the film on and only the trailer. whereas this ultimate edition has lots of extras including a look at predators and documentaries and features on predator

The new star trek was amazing on blu ray, had it for months but never felt like watching it yet. I was thinking about getting the predator Ultimate Edition on blu ray, might try and see if i can get it a little cheaper some where Smile

some films there's a big difference between blu ray and normal films. it all depends on the age of the film and also if the companies put in any effort into putting the film on to blu ray, I Robot for example you can tell they put a big effort with sharper images, richer colours and better sound, so films like robocop on blu ray weren't that good and picture was very grainy. Also you hear of some of the film companies releasing the same film on blu ray twice as the first edition of the blu ray wasn't that good or was a rush job, terminator 2 and predator 1 were a fine example of this. Also all depends on the set up of the tv and the make in tv. What i usually do is read reviews on certain films and then i make a choice whether to buy the blu ray or dvd version of the film, sometimes on blu ray you get directors cut version of the film and on blu ray don't.

Depends on the quality of film used.

For instance Zulu was filmed on top qulity 35mm film (i think) and that rivals Dark night for it's clarity (non imax bits). Where as a lot of the tv series (buffy etc) where filmed on 16mm, so they'll not be worth putting on blu ray really.

On some, there's not much difference between a good upgrade and a blu ray, though there's a big difference between standard dvd and any blu ray. On a good blu ray the difference is just amazing, it literally is a different viewing experience. So is the audio.
