That Canadian bellend has got somewhat of a point as Bisping hasn't won the big fights he's been in & has fought a lot in England. The England part is down to the UFC & that's why the north American fans don't like him as they don't see much of him & when they do he enjoys all the US style
trash talk, no more or less than some US fighters but he's a foreigner & if the attitude come's from elsewhere the Yanks don't like it.
Bisping needs to beat Akiyama to prove he can challenge the top boys but even that won't be enough for some fans as they will feel on the big stage, Las Vegas he's yet to do it.
Look at Chael Sonnen, the guy talks more shit than a bog full of arse's & all this after just 4 UFC wins & then a title shot, if Bisping can win on Saturday i'm still not sure he'll get a shot with Silva v Belfort set for February, that would mean he'd have to wait about 8/9 months to face the winner.
Ultimately i think Bisping needs to work on a lot of his game to compete with Anderson Silva & Chael Sonnen, he needs to be able to compete on the ground, he's got a decent defence interms of being able to get back to his feet but he needs to be able to attack on the ground as well, look at Silva v Sonnen, that right there is point taken with fans who will talk about fighters generally but fans like Devin D from Alberta, Canada just talk straight shit with no regards for or against a fighter's skills hence the word
bellend.
Allround Bisping needs to work on his feet, head movement & aggression so he can win fights like against Wanderlei Silva, where he was too cautious & that cost him a competing chance where as fighters like Wanderlei will take a chance Bisping is too hesitant, after the fight he said it was the takedown at the end which won the fight for Wanderlei, personally i thought he won the fight without it as like i say Bisping is too cautious & unwilling to take a chance in big fights, when your the champ it's down to the challenger to win the fight, like KJ Noons Strikeforce title fight with Nick Diaz, the commentator stated, a great performance but has he done enough? on the other hand you need the spare of the moment skill like Silva v Sonnen.
Untill Mike can perfect his alround game i don't see him winning the title if at all getting a shot!!! the latter of which is down to how the UFC treat him!!!
UFC Middleweight Rankings April 2010
1. Anderson Silva - Expected to fight Belfort Feb UFC 127.
2. Chael Sonnen - Possible drugs ban till Sep 2011.
3. Vitor Belfort
4. Nate Marquardt - Fighting Okami Nov UFC 122.
5. Demian Maia - Fighting Kendell Grove TUF finale December.
6. Yushin Okami
7. Wanderlei Silva - Expected back from injury early next year.
8. Yoshihiro Akiyama
9. Michael Bisping
10. Mark Munoz - Expected to face Aaron Simpson Nov UFC 123.
What i get from this is, Bisping's next fight could be against.
Marquardt v Okami winner - This would a contender fight for the winner of Silva v Belfort. i don't see him fighting Maia or Munoz as the styles don't match & neither are real title contenders as Maia has to climb back.
Wanderlei Silva, Chris Leben - This would confirm the UFC are fucking him about & see him as a good fighter like these two but not a title fighter.
One things for sure Michael Bisping needs to beat Yoshihiro Akiyama & to improve his alround game, desire, will to win & aggression to be in with a chance of being anywhere near the top, that said he's still only 31 so has a good few years left to redevelop himself should he wish to.
As for the north American fans not taking to him, just look at Dan Hardy, he talks shit with the best of them, the pijamas quote still cracks me up to this day
but he gained a lot of fans in his title fight with GSP by showing spirit & heart, only time will tell as to if the Yanks have taken to him & that time will be his next fight in the USA where he
will talk shit &
will show spirit & heart but will the fans cheer???
I see Bisping like James Wade in darts, no matter what he does the crowd will never be intrested...
