Unless the Ultimate Fighter contract has changed i don't know how Court McGee earned $30,000 as the contract says the first years pay is $12,000 + $12,000 win bonus & why is Tito still on $250,000. Not to mention Jake Shields $150,000, what was that i said about Martin Kampmann!!!

Brock Lesnar, who suffered a first-round TKO loss to new champ Velasquez, is suspended 180 days with no contact for 180 days due to possible eye injuries, though he can be cleared early by an ophthalmologist. Regardless, he faces a 60-day suspension with no contact for 60 days due to a left-cheek laceration. Even if the 60-day suspension hadn't been levied, he had faced a 45-day suspension with no contact for 30 days for precautionary reasons.

Medical suspensions (Bit harsh to call them suspensions) 45 days is the standard procedure but if Brock is out for 6 months then with Shane Carwin out as well it looks like Roy Nelson v Frank Mir at UFC 125 on new years day for the number 1 contender spot???

The winners of the first three seasons of The Ultimate Fighter competition, and certain runners-up depending on their performance in their competition finals, receive the touted "six-figure" contract to fight in the UFC. These contracts are specifically three-year contracts with a guaranteed first year.

Each year consists of three fights, the first year's purse per fight consists of $12,000 guaranteed with a $12,000 win bonus (a maximum of $24,000 per fight). The second year's purse per fight is $16,000 with a $16,000 win bonus (a maximum of $32,000 per fight) and the third year's purse per fight is at $22,000 with a $22,000 win bonus (a maximum of $44,000 per fight).

A TUF winner who goes 9–0 can earn $300,000 total on the contract, but only $150,000 is guaranteed for all three years if 9 fights are fought.[11]

Those that have not won the competition can still fight in the UFC. Their contracts however are not the same as the six-figure deal above.

It doesn't mention anything about $15,000....Who knows lads who knows!

Moving on to the Heavyweight nightmare...I think your right Mitchell.Can only see Mir fighting Nelson now! Velasquez must be rubbing his hands together... I think JDS is a little over rated.You can't knock his record but he'll be found out in front of Cain Velasquez surely.No disgrace in that though.

The guys who give the division a proper buzz for me are Velasquez,Carwin and Lesnar.The others don't really do anything for me..Get well soon Shane and Brock!

Cain Velazquez v Junior dos Santon is set for March/April so this probably means UFC 129 Abu Dhabi??? although Velasquez has said he'd prefer to fight in California, Arizona or Mexico City, Mexico is a big possibility as it will open up the market big time down there & we all know Dana White is all about promotion & $$$.

If the injury situation goes into late 2011 then the way the UFC does things i can see Joe Silva & Dana doing something like.
If Matt Mitrione 3-0 wins 2 more fights they may give him a shot at the title??? Ben Rothwell with another win could get another shot at Velasquez (If he's still champ) or if the exciting Stefan Struve beats Sean McCorkle at UFC 124 & then gets who knows maybe Mitrione or Rothwell & wins then he may get his chance???

Gotta give a hats off mention to Cody McKenzie for his 0:17sec submission on TUF, that was quick, possibly a record??? also Jonathan Brookins for his rear naked choke, for me the 2 best wins on the show so far I don't think Josh Koscheck is taking the coaching seriously enough, which is surprising considering his career was born on this show!!!

That was immense last night.The whole show the guy was warned to avoid the guillotine choke as Cody had won all eleven fights by GUILLOTINE CHOKE! and he walks right into it after just seconds! lol! Classic! Im glad he lost!

The Wreckage show on Versus has been eliminated and the only MMA on Versus will be the four UFC events per year.

No decision has been made regarding how to utilize old tapes with current WEC stars on Spike.

1.Jose Aldo, featherweight - The 24-year-old, the 145-pound champ has already exploded into the top 10 pound-for-pound. He’s 8-0 with the promotion and has won 11 straight overall. With Aldo on board with the UFC, he also has the flexibility to move up to 155 pounds. The only question on Aldo remains his ability to defend the takedown against top level wrestlers. He hasn’t met that type of fighter yet.

2. Urijah Faber, bantamweight - The guy who carried the WEC for years finally gets the exposure he deserves. The 5-foot-5 Faber is down where he belongs at 135 and with a media savvy/friendly personality plus matinee idol looks he could become a star on the same level as Georges St, Pierre or Brock Lesnar.

3. Miguel Torres, bantamweight - Truly the most well-rounded fighter in the WEC, the timing is perfect for Torres. Casual MMA fans will love his personality and his warrior style in the cage. He’s also working toward becoming a smarter fighter and playing more to his strengths on the ground.

4. Anthony Pettis, lightweight - His title shot on Dec. 16 against Ben Henderson just went from big to enormous. If Pettis pulls the mild upset and takes the title, he’ll get an immediate shot at the UFC lightweight title against Frank Edgar or Gray Maynard. Pettis, 22, is a big 155-pounder and can do it all.

5. Dominick Cruz, bantamweight - He’s a riddle yet to be solved down at 135. Another young fighter at 25-years-old, Cruz’s herky, jerky striking style is reminiscent of great defensive boxers of the past. The list of contenders and big fights at bantamweight in the UFC could easily headline PPV cards for a few years before any new fighters move into the mix.

6. Joe Benavidez, bantamweight - Benavidez may be the best action fighter in the sport and should be a candidate for the much bigger fight of the night bonuses available on UFC cards. He had match up issues against Cruz’s style but he’ll be a candidate for the 135 title again in the future. He may also provide some headaches for UFC matchmakers. If Faber can get the bantamweight title and is dominant, his teammate Benavidez still won’t take the fight.

7. Brian Bowles, bantamweight - The former 135 champ is the forgotten man but that’s a mistake. He brings one thing the rest of the bigger names in the weight class don’t - one punch knockout power. Bowles could be in line for some nice paydays as he works his way back from issues with his hands.

8. Ben Henderson, lightweight - Overrated or underrated, now Henderson will be put to the test. He has some of the best cardio in the division but now he’s stepping into the world of guys like Edgar, Maynard, Sean Sherk, Evan Dunham, Kenny Florian, George Sotiropolous and possibly Diego Sanchez. The USA Today/Bloody Elbow rankings only has Henderson ranked No. 14 in the world. That’s some serious motivation.

9. Josh Grispi, featherweight - The New Englander is on the verge of breaking out. The 22-year-old just needs to be a little more active. At just over 6-foot tall, he's a rangy guy for the weight class.

10. Donald Cerrone, lightweight - Think of him as the 155-pound Chris Lytle. Cerrone may be no better than a .500 fighter in the UFC but he’ll bring it every time out. If he cuts down on his willingness to fight from his back, Cerrone has a chance to pull some big upsets. He’s also adds another crazy guy to the UFC roster when it comes to hyping a fight.

This was gonna happen at some point as the WEC was operating on gates of between 1,200-12,000 average of about 3,000 & the money for the top fighters was poor compared to the UFC, WEC's GSP v Josh Koscheck type fight was Jose Aldo: $40,000 (includes $20,000 win bonus) def. Urijah Faber: $28,000, with the lowest being $3,000 for a defeat.
I think the new weight divisions will add some much needed speed to the UFC cards just when people are starting to get pissed
off with the amount of wrestling creeping in. as someone pointed out, the big UFC guys will now have to move their ass to win by stoppage or the little fighters are gonna be taking the fight of the night bonus which stand at $70,000 almost twice as much as Aldo got for the biggest fight of his career.
I haven't seen a WEC event so i'm looking forward to seeing some of these fighters especially Jose Aldo, Urijah Faber & Miguel Torres.

Remember what i said about Cain Velasquez fighting in Mexico City, well check this out, a follow on from a piece about UFC 121 taking more than 1m PPV buys.

The marketing drew an interesting reaction. The commercials played so often that within the Mexican-American community, and outside it as well, people who didn't know Velasquez, didn't follow UFC, and some of whom didn't even know Lesnar, knew about a Mexican trying to be the first world heavyweight champion. The awareness of this show was huge. Many people who have never seen UFC were interested. The reaction at bars and theaters, most, but not all, of which drew numbers like the biggest UFC events to date, was how many Mexican Americans were in the place, a demographic UFC had been trying without a lot of success to hit-since that audience so strongly supports boxing and pro wrestling. A wise old booker with decades of watching the business named Dory Funk Jr. told me nearly 30 years ago about drawing minorities to wrestling, that also works with combat sports. The idea of drawing a minority group by putting people from that group on the card means nothing. Unless they are in the top position, it's not going to click. People want to support their champions, not just see the people they can relate to be on the show. UFC tried with Roger Huerta, and it didn't work even though he looked like a star, talked like a star and had a marketable life story, because he wasn't able to get to championship level. Tito Ortiz tried, but never connected because there was a certain phoniness to his approach.
The marketing clearly worked for this show. How big a star, a draw and a hero to Mexican-Americans Velasquez can be depends on a number of factors, based on a combination of how he handles the rough road of instant success, and where his title reign goes from here.

Oh yeah i said this would happen, Gabriel Gonzaga's been cut from the UFC, like i say the little fighter are faster & will show more spirit than
pointless gorillas like Gonzaga!!!

Well i have to admit, i knew Cain Velasquez improved everytime he fought but i thought Brock would at least have a chance LOL

Great fight while it lasted and remember, it takes two to make a great fight so a little credit to Brock too.....but wow, Velasquez handed his 200 and summit pound ass to him.

dos Santos vs. Velasquez....i couldnt care less who won as i love both.
