Duane Ludwig v Nick Osipczak This was a decent fight with Ludwig obviously looking to impose his standup, Osipczak looked like he may get pushed around the octagon with the way he approached the fight but as it turned out for two rounds he got his tactics to work well using his reach advantage to stand off Ludwig & counter with some good punches & ended the first round well. the second was a more even round but god knows what happened to Nick in the 3rd, he looked like he was ready to fall over at an aggressive shout rather that a good set of muay thai skills. It was a good win for Dane Ludwig in his first fight back from a bad injury.
Jorge Rivera v Alessio Sakara Sakara KO'd by flu.. One of the deadliest skills in mma
Krzysztof Soszynski v Goran Reljic ... How i came up with a Reljic sub win i'm not quite sure. This was a decent mma fight with both fighter continuously grappling for position throughout the fight but Soszynski was the more agressive in his quest for a submission & this eventually told with the decision although i'm not sure it was a clean sweep 30-27 on all 3 cards???
Amir Sadollah v Peter Sobotta Sadollah has obviously worked on his muay thai technique which showed throughtout the fight but he lacked the power for a KO finish which if he's gonna use muay thai as his primary skill then he may find himself in trouble against a good opponent. Sobotta is still young & showed good heart but his tactics were all wrong knowing he has good jujitsu he should've looked to take the fight to the ground as soon as.
Dennis Siver v Andre Winner This went as i expected it to. Everyone talks about Siver with his kickboxing but fail to mention he had 8 subs from 16 wins, it was a good performance from the ever imporving German who coped well with the hight & reach disadvantage & managed to stifle winners rhythm from the off. Winner now needs to win his next fight or he'll be in danger of being cut from the organization.
Nate Marquardt v Yushin Okami I weren't sure what to make of this fight & was a little disappointed. Marquardt looked like he was always looking for the one punch KO thus leaving himself to be controlled around the octagon by Okami who knew the power of Marquardt & was tentative to shoot for too many takedowns. Both fighter had some exchanges but niether could gain the advantage & in the end it was the continuous pressing of Okami that was favoured by the judges.
Seth Petruzelli v Karlos Vemola I've not seen Vemola before but this was one hell of a show of immense strength & power & rightly deserve his $60,000 KO of the night bonus to take himself to 8-1 (all 8 in rd1), 1-1 in the UFC, the 25 year old Czech who trains with the London Shootfighters may be one to watch for the future if this performance is anything to go by???
Pascal Krauss v Mark Scanlon The Greman got a decision win over the Scouser to win fight of the night & for some reason it wasn't shown on the live show after the main event so if anyone comes across the vid then feel free to do the hounors...
UFC 123 next Saturday & the return of Rampage
onwards & upwards.
