ImageChunk Problem

Is it me or has image chunk gone down again? One min I'm browsing the XXX vids and caps page the next all the pics have disappeared.

Maybe we should all have learnt our lesson last time about being overdependent on it

I noticed yesterday that when opening an IC image directly (i.e. not via this forum), that instead of appearing as a thumbnail, it appeared fullsize. However the fullsize image was of a vastly reduced quality and appeared pixelated (as if the thumbnail had just been magnified to the size of the original image).

Yep, I just got back in, and noticed it's still down.

Thought I'd check this thread first, just in case it was just my browser playing up. But I can see it's not.

I switched providers last time, but went back to them, purely because it's easier to use there system than others.

I've noticed other forums in the past, having this same problem. And a few of them set themselves up as hosts for all the images posted on the forum.

They put a 500kb size limit on the image size. and set up a rule, that all images must be hosted by them. In that way, the forum wasn't reliant on any other provider.

Has any thought gone into possibly doing that here?

I imagine it could slow the forum down if they had to host the pics as well.

True, but the forum already hosts some images, with it's attachments. And I have never noticed them slowing anything down. It would just basically be an expanding of the system, with limits in place.

I'd imagine the costs of hosting would immediately multiply so that's likely a reason not to do it.

Just a shame everyone seems to rely on imagechunk here.

And I agree. This forum is too reliant on ImageChunk.

Now if I had the ability to edit my own posts beyond the 24 hour limit, I would probably transfer some of them over to another host, and insert the new links.

As I don't think I'm going back to them this time.
