RE: UFC
UFC 124 ESPN 3AM
Thiago Alves v John Howard
After 2 successive defeats Alves has 1 last chance to prove he can make weight at welterweight befor the UFC push him up to the middleweight division, his chance comes against a fighter who has the ability to stand with the Muay Thai specialist, although Howard has an even all-round game, so will it be another frustrating night for the pitbull... Hard to say but it's a step up for Howard. Alves TKO
Joe Stevenson v Mac Danzig
After a good run the 'Daddy' is 3-4 in his last 7 albeit against top opponents so he really needs this win. Mac Danzig was 16-4-1 before he won TUF 6 but his UFC record is 3-4, so this is a very even fight both record & style wise & with both needing the win it may be a very very cagey affair. Stevenson Unanimous Decision
Jim Miller v Charles Oliveira
Submission specialist Miller is 18-2 7-1 in the UFC with his only loss by UD to lightweight title challenger Gray Maynard. 21 year old Oliveira is 14-0 2-0 UFC with a 6-7 KO, sub record so this could be a challenger for fight of the night. Tough to call but Miller's experience may be a key factor. Miller Split Decision
Stefan Struve v Sean McCorkle
Exciting 22 year old Dutchman Struve has another chance to prove his credentials in the depleted heavyweight division 20-4, 4-2 in the UFC Struve is fastly gaining fans (Me included) with his never say die style & with a number of big names in the division hold up due to a mixture of injury & unfortunate circumstances a win may set up an early title shot. McCorkle, a late comer to the UFC at 34 is 10-0 with two UFC wins & has the style to match Struve & make this another not to be missed Stefan Struve fight. Struve KO
Georges St-Pierre v Josh Koscheck
Possibly the most eagerly anticipated fight in UFC history. Style wise this match up is phenomenal as both fighter are top class wrestlers & kickers & both have good boxing. Most people are going with GSP on both being fans of his & through a hatred for Koscheck, Say what you will about Josh Koscheck but for me he epitomises the perfect example of the improvement a fighter has shown during his time at the top level of the sport & for that reason this should be a great fight, i just hope there isn't too much respect shown in the octagon & the fight being a 5 round borefest, there's too much i could say about this fight with the breaking down of styles etc etc.. but i would rather just watch & enjoy. What happens, happens as far as i'm concerned i like both fighters so i'll let this one be. Ummmm..... errrr... GS....Kos....Errrr GSP has 4 UD's in his last 7 so i'll go. GSP Groundnpound
