RE: UFC
Just saw that Dan Hardy's next fight will be at UFC Fight Night 24 against Anthony Johnson.A decent card but he's surely pissed off at not being put on a PPV event.

Chael Sonnen on MMA LIVE. Priceless.

Takanori Gomi v Clay Guida
This should've been a great start to the night but knowing the skill of his opponent Guida chose to over use his usual energetic style & ended up dancing around for what seemed like most of the fight but he finished it with his customary submission to take himself to three straight victories.
Dong Hyun Kim v Nate Diaz
What should've been the fight of the night, no question ended up being no more than a very very good training session of which Hyun Kim helped Diaz work on an already excellent guard, a good performance from Hyun Kim who remains unbeaten but not one he will be shouting about.
Thiago Silva v Brandon Vera
A good controling performance from Silva especially since it was his first fight after a year out injured which may go some way in explaining why there wasn't much action when he had Vera controlled on the ground, a wins a win when you've not fought for 364 days. I'm not sure if it was the visual aspect of the tattoos or the fact he was just in great shape but Thiago Silva looked every bit the beast.
Brandon 'The Truth' Vera may have to face the truthWink that his UFC career is now over, he'll do well in Strikeforce.
Chris Leben v Brian Stann
If Brian Stann thinks knocking out Chris Leben now makes him a top 10 fighter then he's very much mistaken, yes it was a good victory but Leben is no more than a fighter like Martin Kampmann, a fighter who the UFC will use to test everyone & anyone who thinks they've got what it takes to be someone. The only reason Leben's name is being shouted at the minute is because he gained 2 UFC victories in 2 weeks.
Frankie Edgar v Gray Maynard
This was a pretty decent fight without being spectacular. The first 2 rounds aside it was dominated by Edgar's stayaway style, i personally aren't a big fan of his as i don't like the way he dances around & just jumps in every now & again to throw a few combos or against an opponent he knows he can beat add a takedown every now & again.
Maynard only has himself to blame as he punched himself out in the first round & after that was too tired to try any decent takedowns & when he did Edgar brushed them off with ease.
While watching the runthrough of the rounds after the fight i thought this is either gonna be 3 rounds to 2 for Edgar or this being Vegas & with no clear winner the judges will do what Vegas judges do & call it a draw, Oh how right i was.

Hats off to Daniel Roberts & Brad Tavares for a couple of great finishes.

All in all i didn't think this was a great event, most of the fights were pretty mundane.

Fighters were awarded $60,000 bonuses.
Fight of the Night: Frankie Edgar v Gray Maynard
Knockout of the Night: Jeremy Stephens
Submission of the Night: Clay Guida

RE: UFC
I enjoyed it Mitchell.Thought it was a decent event.

What about the lad who beat up Josh Grispi...That was one of the highlights for me.He looks a real prospect especially as Grispi was supposed to be fighting for the title originally.

Gotta say i havn't laughed as much in my life watching a UFC fight as i did watching Clay Guida Bounce Would hate to fight that guy. Rolleyes Impossible for his opponents to get into any sort of rythm! What a nutcase eek

Enjoyed Stann destroying Chris Leben. Big Grin Quality from the ex Marine.I like that guy, really professional and goes about his business well.Bang Bang Bang Smile Take that Chris!

Enjoyed the Silva fight if only for his bitch slapping of Vera and that immense busted nose lol That's gonna need some work lol and be pretty sore this morning lol Agree Mitchell.Silva looked good last night.

Unreal come back from Frankie Edgar in the Main Event.Have total respect for that lad now.He really took a proper beating in that first round and i agreed with the outcome.A fair result for me and glad Edgar kept the belt.

I miss the days when Bravo showed this. Hope Channel 5 get their act together and show the highlights they promised of shows a few weeks earlier more regularly and of more recent action. I'd like to see the main event but my net connection ain't the best.

After two years I've finally given myself an avatar and a signature as well! It's like a bus, you wait for one for ages and two come at once!

RE: UFC
UFC 125 pay scale.

The following is the reported payout to the fighters as reported to the Nevada State Athletic Commission. It does not include sponsor money or "locker room" bonuses often given by the UFC and also do not include the UFC's traditional "fight night" bonuses.

Frankie Edgar: $102,000 ($51,000 win bonus) vs. Gray Maynard: $52,000 ($26,000 win bonus) bladewave
Brian Stann: $42,000 ($21,000 win bonus) Sad def. Chris Leben: $46,000
Thiago Silva: $110,000 ($55,000 win bonus) def. Brandon Vera: $60,000
Dong Hyun-Kim: $70,000 ($35,000 win bonus) def. Nate Diaz: $33,000
Clay Guida: $62,000 ($31,000 win bonus) def. Takanori Gomi: $50,000
Jeremy Stephens: $36,000 ($18,000 win bonus) def. Marcus Davis: $31,000
Dustin Poirier: $8,000 ($4,000 win bonus) def. Josh Grispi: $15,000
Brad Tavares: $16,000 ($8,000 win bonus) def. Phil Baroni: $25,000
Diego Nunes: $20,000 ($10,000 win bonus) def. Mike Brown: $23,000 Sad
Daniel Roberts: $24,000 ($12,000 win bonus) def. Greg Soto: $8,000
Jacob Volkmann: $24,000 ($12,000 win bonus) def. Antonio McKee: $15,000

Although not reflected in the NSAC paperwork, both Edgar and Maynard received their win bonuses despite the draw.

RE: UFC
I really enjoyed it, the main event was ace in my eyes, To come back from that 1st round beating gets a lot of respect from me and the result for me was probably the right outcome.

I also really like watching clay Guida, he really reminds me Blanka from Street fighter

RE: UFC
What was that i said about the UFC not giving a serious fuck about Michael Bisping. After Chael Sonnen's suspension due to money-laundering charges Yoshihiro Akiyama is now set to fight Nate Marquardt at UFC 128 in New Jersey March 19th while Bisping fights Jorge Rivera at UFC 127 in Sydney February 27th.
The winner of Marquardt v Akiyama will no doubt fight for the title against the winner of Silva v Belfort UFC 126 Feb 5th. Akiyama has lost 2 straight including his last v Bisping who has won his last 2, Marqardt lost his last fight to Yushin Okami, this could mean the UFC middleweight title being contendered by a fighter who is on a 1 fight win streak v a champion who is on a 5 fight win streak if Belfort beats Silva but it will be Vitor's first fight since he beat Rich Franklin on September 9th 2009.

Now i don't know about you but to me this just goes to show how the UFC doesn't give a shit about most of the fighter it has in the organization & will always be looking for the quick fix & best sale to bring in the $$$. Personally as i've stated before i don't think Michael Bisping is champion class but he is without doubt worthy of a title challenge just as much if not more than Vitor Belfort, Nate Marquardt, Yoshihiro Akiyama & Chael sonnen.

Fallout from UFC125 is that Brandon Vera, Phil Baroni & Marcus Davis have all been cut, not surprising but on the context of what i've been saying here's a pretty good backup to my point.
Between October 2006 & January 2009 Marcus Davis was 8-2 in the UFC with a 6 fight win streak in the mix of that & 15-3 overall but was never in with a chance of a title shot & more often than not just used as a show pony on the European cards, between September 2007 & June 2009 all 7 of his fights were in Europe, England 4, N.Ireland 1, Rep. Ireland 1 & Germany 1.
Not regarding the UFC's refusal to offer Davis a title shot but just a fact with regards to the show pony tag his UFC career consisted of fights taking place in 5 different countries 8 (Europe & Canada) 7 (US). His record was 9-6 but he lost 4 of his last 5.

RE: UFC
Sonnen could do some real time for that over in the states.Im sure that's something like 15 to 20 years if found guilty?

Akiyama vs. Marquardt is one of the most boring fights i can think of.If either one of them get a shot before Bisping it will be a disgrace.

For me GSP will meet Anderson Silva if both win their next fights anyway. Smile Everyone would love to see that fight.

That division needs a good shake up.The UFC could make some explosive match ups and get some real excitement going. They seem to be putting some boring fights together at middleweight. Why don't they get Bisping in the octagon with Brian Stann or Court Mcgee or Wanderlei Silva or Falcao could all have a fight...Something good Rolleyes

Anyone else read that they're thinking of using Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard for TUF 13.
