VLC Player

I assume you mean the controller - it opens by default and I can't see an option to stop that happening. If it is possible, you might find some info on The VideoLan Forums.

Oh .. thanks Skate.... I thought it had just appeared since I updated vlc and mistakenly deleted my settings from the old version.

Edit: I know what I did.... I embed the controller (or at least a shortened form of it) in the video and
it is only visible when I place the cursor at the bottom of the video.

What do you need to download to watch mkv please.

vlc player ,it plays about everything out there

For those that dont know VLC is now available in the apple app store, I suggest you get it before apple remove it

ive just downloaded vlc but my computer still wants to go through windows media player, does anyone know how to set vlc as my preffered player

Right Click the file, select Open with > Choose Program... tick the box to 'Always use the selected program to open...' then select VLC media player - if VLC media player is not in the program list, browse to C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC (or wherever you have installed it) and select vlc.exe

I'm not sure if there is a way to bulk associate all media files with VLC so you may need to do the above for each different video file type you want to watch, .avi .mpg .wmv etc.
