the objective financial fair play is that the owners are only to put around £30/40m a year, the club must break even over a period of time (3yrs i think), the owners can put as much money as they want into developing the ground, training facilities, the academy etc. this is meant that clubs only spend the money they make but there is a suspicion that the owners will find around the limit of cash injection of £30/40m through sponsorship, the shaikh at man city, abramovich at chelsea might use their companies in sponsoring the club.

Lets put it this way, if the big clubs in Europe can't find a way around it they will threaten to set up their own competition and then there will be a "compromise"..

That is absolutely the reason why I think this is a non-starter; as Bigguy says above, the mega-rich owners such as Sheikh Mansour at Manchester City and Roman Abramovic at Chelsea will almost certainly look to balance the books by off-setting certain monies to certain accounts in order to counteract this supposed UEFA threat.

Abramovic only last week showed how unconcerned he is by this threat, when on the same day that Chelsea revealed a £70million loss for the past financial year, he gave the go-ahead for a further £70million worth of spending on two new players - hardly getting his financial house in order is he?

And like you say, MrHead, the ever-impending spectre of the breakaway 'European Super League' is always there; personally I can't ever see that happening as the same old clubs would soon become bored of playing one-another (at least in the Premiership there is always the odd breath of fresh air such as Blackpool or Hull City) and attendances would soon suffer due to apathy. But whilst the very threat itself is there as some sort of a blackmailing tool, then UEFA will always go down on their collective knees and suck up to the European giants (no pun intended MrHead...well, ok it was).

di matteo was disgracefully sacked by west brom. west brom have previous, a manager gets them promoted then they struggle (which they always do in the prem) then they sack the manager who got them promoted. di matteo is a good manager, west brom are very good championship side but a poor prem side, blackpool will be staying up and maybe they can do what stoke, sunderland and birmingham have done and stay there for a few years.

As much as I wish it was true, the last West Brom manager (Tony Mowbray) walked away after the last relegation to join Celtic.

Rumour has it that Roy Hodgson has been approached to take over at West Brom and he's weighing up his options. If it's true and he accepts the position then I wish him all the success in the world. Although it didnt work out for him at LFC, he is still a good coach and a very decent man.

Deary me....Chelsea fans unveiled their "own" tribute to Fernando Torres on Sunday at Stamford Bridge. Now, is it just me or is there a striking resemblance to the flag that has been on show at every Liverpool home game since Torres arrived in 2007 It gets better....Under the words El Nino they even kept the design of Anfield's Shankly Gates which forms part of the Liverpool Football Club crest That is a major faux-pas by the Chelsea supporters

west brom is more suited to him than liverpool, fulham and west brom are similar type of club.

Probably the second best post this thread has seen so far.
