RE: Club or Country?
You should always support your country.
Except that if you can't get in the England team then look for some grandparent who may have been born in one of the other countries.

This statement only applies to football. Not rugby and specifically, definely not cricket. Rolleyes

RE: Club or Country?
Great thread lindor, ares127901 "Seriously fuck England" If you're English then you should be seriously ashamed of yourself calling yourself a football fan with comments like this is a total disgrace you sicken me boy!!! Raingod if you read his post again Master Yoda says he'll always root for his country, yet you come out with "I'm really not interested in what England do and struggle to understand how I can be expected to cheer on the likes of Rooney or Lampard when I hate them for about 44 weeks of the year". I hate Terry, Rooney, Ferdinand & A. Cole but still support them to the high heavens everytime they put on an England shirt even though none of them know the words to the national anthem.

If you have no interest in international friendlies then maybe take the view of the always fair comment Regenerated I have to say my allegiances tend to favour my club fortunes more than the England national team. My club is more personal to me, and therefore more reflecting on my support of the game. Of course I want England to succeed in major tournaments, and will follow them in World Cups and European Championships, but as for friendlies, I really don't have much intrest from a national point of view. I'm a fan of the game in general, but that general viewpoint does tend to lean towards my club.

eagle_si, gazfc & co it's fans of teams like yours, teams from the football league that make up the core of the England support & follow them from pillow to post no matter where or how we're playing i.e when we played Andorra in Spain & it was 0-0 at half time, yes they let the team know their feelings but still sang their hearts out for 45min of the second half.

Just like BaddaBing I'd love to see England win the world cup in my lifetime & I'd also make sure I was sat in front of the tv to see the start of the program if we were playing Mongolia on a dust track in Afghanistan , it's called passion boys the same passion all the fans had in Denmark tonight when they sang God Save The Queen every 10min.

Friendlies are important to a manager to get players like Jack wilshere, Gary Cahill, Ashley Young & Darren Bent & co time on the pitch & bedded into the England system & tactics.

I though the game was a great result against a good side away from home especially the second half when we had the core of the 2014 World Cup hopefulls on the pitch together.

I support Aston Villa first everytime,I only take an interest in Internationals during World Cups and Euros, my parents are Irish so I support Republic of Ireland though get behind England in World Cups when Ireland arent there but I have no real interest in mid-week International friendlies, last years World Cup was very poor they seem to get poorer with every tournament and I think the Euro Championships are becoming better

Great post Mitchell! Whilst I differ regards patriotism and nationalism (I just can't make myself care for an international team just because the mass media expect me to but that's just me and my only-one-team-that-matters mentality), you certainly put the patriotic angle across with plenty of verve and passion!

It seems from the general viewpoint (I should really have incorporated a vote into the post, come to think of itbladewave), that if Captain Vimes had his way attendances this coming weekend would be down to 45 men and their dogslaugh(that's the four-legged waggly-tailed variety you Kick Sexism Out Of Football brigade:biglaughSmile.

And if Hex!t or anyone else could please enlighten me as to what MMA is then I'd be gratefulSmile!

Oh, and Yoda, of course you can grow bacon - you feed the pigsBig Laugh!

Thanks to all, and keep 'em comingSmile!
