malicious fan first what team do you support is it Chelsea??? & second you say
"so is he world class then yoda? to me if your world class that means you can get in any team in the world ok. so really there should only be 11 players who should get into that team. in a midfield there would be xavi, iniesta, sneider, fabregas as a 4",.... Errr a so called world 11 is a football team not a fantasy team on the Playstation, so in this world 11 midfield 4, who plays on the right & left wing & who is the defensive midfielder, Iniesta & Sneider aren't wingers & neither Xavi or Fabragas are defensive enough to be relied on.
Most of the players you mention as has been stated are from different generations so how do you compare them just like Pele is considered the greatest of all as he was the first to be called the greatest of all & those who think Maradona is don't take the argument to the extent you are as they know it can't be proven.
Gerrard could be considered one of the greatest players of the past 5-10 years for his style of play a style of play which stands alongside that of Messi & co who are in consistent teams where as Gerrard isn't & that isn't something he can change on the pitch by himself although he's always willing to give it a try.
If Steven Gerrard was in say the Barca, Spain or Brazil teams then he would get the full credit he fully deserves just like Lampard would if Chelsea won the Champions League although maybe not this season as I'm not sure how many goals he's scored due to injury I'd also say the same of Jaime Carragher who doesn't get the credit he deserves because Liverpool don't win the league so he goes unnoticed & Gerrard gets all the plaudits.
As for players in the same era, Messi is the best player in the world above Ronaldo but if they swapped teams then the plaudits may be the other way round. Oppinions are oppinions everyones got one & everyone will dismiss everyone elses but for you to possibly disagree (I say possibly as I can't be arsed to read back all the posts & I understand you don't think he's world class???) then It looks to me as your just being a bit of a tit, would you say the same if he played for a team who was winning the league 1 in every 3-4 years. i.e Wayne Rooney's goal v City, a good overhead kick but massively over hyped & by no means the best goal of the season, but hey it's Rooney & he plays for Utd & they will probably win the league this season???.... Just off the top of my head maybe the goal of the season could just as easily go to Samir Nasri for one if not both of his goals against Fulham, & as for an overhead kick Peter Crouch scored one in the Champions League but it was forgotten about within a week probably as will Rooney's when the next
best goal of the season is scored.
