Amusing Racehorse (etc) Names

Spotted a cool(ish) story on Yahoo news just now - apparently the British Horseracing Authority takes it upon itself to vet all new names being registered for racehorses and ban the 'rude' ones.

The greatest horses's name that actually did get past the unwitting censor some eight or nine years ago was "Mary Hinge". I remember hearing The Racing Channel commentators Richard Hoiles and Simon Holt discussing their recurring nightmares about it.

Oh, and there were also horses within the past decade called "Justinianus" and "Shaghur Raughton".

On The Hour, a brilliant spoof radio news programme (became The Day Today on telly) used to have racing results on with fantastic names, read by Alan Partridge. My favourite was Mussolini Cough Chutney.
