They should pull Fitch off of BJ if all he sets out to do is lay on top of him again.

RE: UFC
Here's my take on some of the key UFC fights in February and March:

UFC 126: Silva/Belfort - Belfort was doing quite well until getting caught by that spectacular kick. Definitely the highlight of the year so far in terms of knockouts. I think whenever Silva fights this type of opponent, he just has one too many tricks for them.

As I said, when I initially started posting on this thread, it's probably going to take someone with the skills to take Silva to the ground and finish him. Sonnen almost managed it, but you have to wonder if his chance has gone. It's a struggle to find anyone else at 185lbs with the right criteria. GSP and Jones have the ability to beat Silva. If GSP beats Shields, and offers to step up to 185lbs, then that might be the most likely outcome.

Griffin/Franklin - This was a difficult one to call, as both had been away for a while. Griffin looked in better condition, was sharper from the outset and deserved the win. Tough return for Franklin, after breaking his arm against Liddell, and he never looked like winning.

Jones/Bader - Nothing this guy Jones does surprises me. He has so much natural talent, is versatile and fights with no fear. Seems equally comfortable either standing or on the ground. Won in a canter.

UFC 127: Penn/Fitch - Thought the style of this fight was very predictable with no highlights. In my opinion, the judges got this one right by calling it a draw.

Bisping/Rivera - I'm not sure what happened during the build up to this fight, as I usually have very little interest in anything other than the fight itself on the night. Too much hype builds up false expectations in most fights, so I generally avoid it. What I will say is Bisping seems to have a habit of getting involved in this kind of situation. Whether or not it's his own fault most of the time is debatable. Regarding the fight, I have to say the illegal knee did look deliberate at the time. Bisping was already in command, so probably would have won anyway. Having said that, there does seem to be something missing from Bisping - both in and out of the octagon.

UFC Live: Sanchez/Kampmann - Overall, this was one of the best fights I've seen so far this year. As I said previously, regardless of whether you like or dislike Diego Sanchez, I've yet to see him in a boring fight. Plenty of people at the event seemed to think Kampmann won, but I thought the judges got it right. Sanchez showed a lot of guts to come back after that first round. In my opinion, he edged the second and the third and deserved to win.

His punk attitude in the first Ultimate Fighter series, along with Koscheck, Leben and Southworth left bad initial impressions, but people tend to overlook that kind of thing if they deliver exciting fights. The boy seldom leaves anything behind when he fights - and that's what most people pay to see.

UFC 128: Shogun Rua/Jones - Shogun didn't seem like his usual self on the night, but you can't take anything away from Jones who won easily again. Shogun did well to hang in there as long as he did, considering some of the shots he took. The 205lbs division is very competitive, so there will be plenty of tests ahead for Jones to keep proving himself.

UFC Fight Night 24: Hardy/Johnson - After what happened to Hardy in his previous couple of fights, I don't think this result was much of a surprise - especially as British fighters tend to struggle against good wrestlers. Hardy did well to avoid any real damage on the ground, but he was bullied and dominated from start to finish by Johnson. Not sure where Hardy goes from here, but it's good to hear Dana White make supportive comments.

How the hell does Anthony Johnson make 170lbs, by the way! What you weigh and how you look is very deceptive. He looked two weight classes bigger than Hardy. I'm a similar height and frame to Johnson. Apart from the occasional break, I workout every week and I'm in decent enough shape at around 190lbs. I'd say Johnson looked more around 200lbs on the night against Hardy.

I'm here to help - if my help's not appreciated then lotsa luck, gentlemen.

RE: UFC
Thiago silva released a statement after giving a 'non-human sample'
http://www.mixedmartialarts.com/mma.cfm?...e=1&pc=307

cliff notes: admitted using masking agent to cover use of illegal substancees but doen't say what. had a relapse of the back injury that kept him out for over a year and didn't want to cancel the fight. admits guilt and will accept his punishment and learn from it.

as a thiago fan i can sympathise with his career threatening injuries but am dissapointed. first offense will probably get between 6months to a year ban. hopefully he gets recoverd in his time of and this is a one off offence.

Also agree with winstone about weight of johnson some fighters cut huge amounts of weight. Read that johnson weighed 220 at start of traning camp and probably around weighed 190 at fight time. john jones looked huge compared to shogun, know some of the bigger light heavy weights like tito, rampage weigh around 220 at fight time. and altough he lost sean mcorkle weighed over 290 at fight time, thats a gain of 25 lbs between weigh ina fight thats huge.

RE: UFC
Quote from the text in gnp's post.
He has publicly called for a fight with Chris Lytle since the loss, saying that Lytle is the kind of fighter who will have an all-out war with him on the feet. Johnson had promised the same but ended up taking Hardy down in each round and controlling top position.

Chris Lytle's fighting style is Boxing, Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & his record is W 30, L 18, KOW 3, KOL 2, SubW 21, SubL 0 Decision W 6, L 18, Draws 5, Submission of the Night 2, Knockout of the Night 1, Fight of the Night 5.

The only way I see Dan Hardy in with a chance of winning this & therefore staying in the UFC is that Lytle likes a tear up but as I've highlighted in the above text this probably won't happen??? also the fight of the night fights could give Hardy a chance but they resulted in unanimous decision wins 3, split decision wins 1, & a TKO (Doctor Stoppage) loss.

So if Dana White & quote "I fucking love this kid" then he'd surely give him an easier fight than Chris Lytle

On Winston Wolfe & 199lives posts I think the UFC need to start & show some professionalism & fairness & start putting fighters in their natural weight divisions as the two fights that have been mentioned have resulted in a Champion losing his title & another possibly having just 1 fight left to save his career in the organization.

Oh & I'm liking the new face groundnpound, very discotheque, I think I might dig out my glow sticks. [Image: smiley-dance006.gif]
