^^^ busted! Smile

Ghana enhanced their reputation as Africa's leading footballing nation, with a fine draw against England. Terrific goal from Gyan to snatch a draw. Plusses for England were the continued impressive form of Joe Hart in goal and a good game and goal for Andy Carroll.

didnt see the match i was on happy afters! dunno what happened and im guessing it was a meaningless friendly cos when all the so called superstars are available they will be back in the team again.

RE: Football Banter
It was actually the best England friendly I've seen in a long, long while. Cracking match, admittedely it was mainly due to the Ghanain fans making a great atmosphere, but still.

Wilshere had another great game, Young and Downing both a decent match which will help their cause in a competitive position. Carroll (although he was pretty poor tonight IMO) got on the scoresheet as well. So it was very refreshing to see a friendly that wasn't meaningless tonight

RE: Football Banter
if rooney can be picked for england for doing nothing this season for his club than carroll should be 1st choice. its about time the manager should be picking players on form and fitness not reputation or past glories.

RE: Football Banter
Yes I agree. These shameful pics of disgraced England footballers remain a lasting memory of last summer's world cup diaster. Sad

We need some new players, ones who are proud to wear the shirt. The friendly against Ghana gave a lot of new faces a chance to shine and I think on the whole they impressed. Wilshere, Jarvis, Carroll all had good games.

RE: Football Banter
i was reading article about a 19yr old newcastle midfielder that was playing non-league football last season like knightly and smalling and now playing prem league football. i think players have that sort of background should be suited to international football one attribute they have and rooney etc dont have is "mental toughness".

RE: Football Banter
when you say rooney etc so meaning others who else do you mean and do you mean mental toughness at international level? cos surely some1 like rooney has mental toughness week in week out playing for the most hated team having to put up with what he does yet still more times than not ends up on the winning side and his mental toughness as well as his ability as won him a european cup medal, carling cup medals and some league medals as well. so seems to me people like rooney and the others who im not sure who you mean must have plenty of mental toughness to put things to the back of their mind and carry on being successful especially at club level.
