But I guess it's only a story because of who it involved.
I couldn't agree more gaz & I'm sure your with me on this one aswell. Sky Sports News fucks me off on the same grounds as you said when they're willing to show & laugh at 2 ice hocky players fighting, yet they still flat out refuse to even report on mixed martial arts (UFC).
Ice hocky. a sport that is bearly even known across the majority in this country where as the UFC organisation is not only the biggest growing team style organisation in the world but is soley making mma the fastest growing sport in the world, SSN is a great channel but it's also great at having double standards!!!

RE: Football Banter
there are unwritten rules to fighting in ice hockey, its always 1 on 1, if someone tries to join in a member of the opposing team pulls them away. this always goes unnoticed by people, im surprised that ssn dont know that since they are meant to experts in sport, oh sorry they are autocue readers.
this is sad state of affairs rooney would be banged up for what said if he was on a night out. its now becoming a non-story and everyone jumping on the bandwagon.

there use to proper fighting in english football now its all pansy slapping. if you going to hit someone throw a good solid hayemaker and get a deserved red card, fine and ban.

RE: Football Banter
So Rooney would be locked up for what he did would he? you must be bloody joking. These days nothing short of murder would get you arrested, i live in birmingham and on a Saturday night it,s like a war zone, and the police only bother to do anything if you interrupt their tea break. If two idiots on a football pitch want to go at it, then let them do it and the ref can sort it out as he is supposed to. The police chiefs just love seeing their names in the paper, and what better way to do it than use a high profile name like Rooney,s to get their worthless opinions in.
Of course we have to understand that when it happens on the TV in front of millions of viewers then the job is done for them ( not too much detection needed ) so they are quite happy to get involved.
And politicians are just as bad trying to cash in on the success on the nations sporting teams, the Ashes, Rugby world cup, Ryder cup, anything to get a few extra votes and make themselves seem one of the lads.
They should leave sporting matters in the hands of the appropriate sporting bodies, shut their stupid mouths and get on and do the jobs they are paid to do.
