RE: UFC
Good post Hex!t Smile Totally agree with u on both the Title fights mate.

GSP started the fight like it was gonna be a carbon copy of his fight with Koscheck.Controlling the fight with his jab and accurate strikes. The eye injury (Which is ok now) changed the fight. He looked worried about it and went a little bit cautious.Understandable though.Gotta say i hate having any problems with my eyes. It's so irritating and worrying at times. When he landed the kick to Shield's head i think he would've finished him if he didn't have the eye problem.Shields did nothing in the fight. He gave GSP a bloody nose and a sore eye but he did very little.Solid defence for the champion.

Surely Anderson Silva next.

Thought the Featherweight title fight was awesome.Fight of the night. How tough was Hominick.Crazy.Thought the fight would've been stopped when the THING appeared on his forehead by that i mean this. [Image: hominickhead_crop_340x234.jpg] He started the fight solidly for me an until the 3rd round i think... I thought an upset was on the cards.Aldo looked a bit tired after the 2nd round and i thought Hominick could've done the biz.Aldo's class though and got the rounds under his belt gradually beating Hominick down. The fightback by the challenger in the final round was brilliant to watch. The lad showed immense courage. He now makes his way onto the old fav fighters list. Rolleyes

Stop copying Anderson Silva Lyoto! Wink lol Kinda expected Randy to get knocked out by Machida.Brilliant finish by the Brazillian.Didn't think i'd see a kick like that again.Unreal.Machida's still a force to be reckoned with in that division and could end up being Jon Jones biggest threat.Who's out of his fight with Rashad Evans.Hand injury i think.Evans now fights Phil Davis.Randy's made a good decision for me.A complete legend.

Thought it was one of the best overall cards for a long time.Enjoyed every fight.Ben Henderson looks good as does Rory Macdonald.Thought the atmosphere and the stadium were awesome.Goes to show how far the UFC has come from crowds of 2,000 to 55,000 sell outs in the Rogers Centre.

The rise continues.

Awesome Chuck vid 199 Wink Another Legend right there.

RE: UFC
I watched the show on my laptop so thats maybe why I thought the atmosphere wasn't great.
Mark Hominick looked a right sight, I hope his wife can hold out for a week with the baby or the first family photo is gonna look a little strange.

Hominick looked like he did well in the last round as he was on top all round but he didn't do much damage as with most of the fight Aldo had great head movement & took little damage, so while it looked good he didn't score much just like Chael Sonnen against Anderson Silva, Sonnen controlled the fight but didn't do much damage, that said I'd still pay to watch Mark Hominick over Chael Sonnen all day long.... Unless Sonnen was sat on a chair telling jokes.Wink

Just watched a UFC129 after show interview with Dana White and it looks like GSP might go up against Nick Diaz next Rolleyes .White said he was going to visit Diaz to have a chat.It comes across to me that the fight will happen.

Jose Aldo looks like he's gonna fight undefeated Chad Mendes next.

Here's a link to the vid.Advert first. The vid is after.

i like Diaz-GSP. not really any other fights still left at welter weight at the moment anyway for Georges.

july 7th strikeforce card coming along nicely Dan henderson vs Fedor at heavyweight (maybe a 220lb catchweight) and king Mo vs Roger Gracie big step up for Roger.

Henderson/Fedor could be the first time we see either fighter KTFO.

After two years I've finally given myself an avatar and a signature as well! It's like a bus, you wait for one for ages and two come at once!

RE: UFC
The only fighter that's gonna test GSP is Anderson Silva.Diaz is tough and don't think he's ever been submitted but he's fought nobody. GSP has way too much for this guy. He's in a different league from everyone in that division. If he dosen't beat Diaz to a bloody mess and either knock him out or submit him i'll be stunned.

Think GSP will give the fans something spectacular in his next fight be it Diaz or Silva.Something like what we saw against Hughes @ 65 and 79 or Serra in the rematch.

He's beaten Matt Hughes twice,BJ Penn twice,Josh Koscheck twice,John Fitch,Thiago Alves and Jake Shields.

There's a one sided beat down in store for Nick Diaz.

RE: UFC
Does anyone know if Strikeforce: Overeem v Werdum in Dallas on June 18 is on tv, I watched Diaz v Daley but I can't remember if it was on the internet or on tv it might've been on ppv so I probably watched it on the net.

This is the June 18th card so far.

Heavyweight Grand Prix Quarterfinal bouts.
Alistair Overeem v Fabricio Werdum
Josh Barnett v Brett Rogers
Heavyweight Grand Prix Reserve bout.
Shane Del Rosario v Daniel Cormier
Valentijn Overeem v Chad Griggs

[Image: smiley_nope.gif]...............[Image: smiley_nope.gif].... groundnpound your love for GSP equalled by your hatred of Nicholas Robert Diaz is becoming so one sided that I'm starting to wonder if there's some kind of love triangle going on that your not telling us about.....

To say Diaz hasn't fought anyone is a bit silly & disrespectful to his tallents as a BJJ blackbelt under Cesar Gracie along with his striking skills, he hasn't fought in the UFC since November 2006, the past 5 years or so have been the most successful years for the organization & should Diaz have been part of it I'm very confident in saying he would've been a champion in the welterweight division on at least 1 occasion just like Matt Serra who beat....

Nick Diaz has had some great fights over the years of which would've been even greater should he have been in mma's premier organization, he's proved his champions quality in fights as recent as his last when he came back from the brink of defeat to beat Paul Daley, Diaz v Lawler UFC 47 was also a great fight if I remember correctly. He fights out of a great gym along with his brother Nate Diaz & Gilbert Melendez 2 time Strikeforce lightweight champion & former Strikeforce middleweight champion Jake Shields.

Now I know you'll say Jake Shields did fuck all against an injured GSP but this is where Shields & Koscheck are different to Diaz as Nick Diaz won't just stand off GSP & let him control the fight Diaz has the attitude to take the fight to GSP no matter how good GSP is or what natural skills he posesses as Diaz is a natural fighter & his instinct is to attack & if you couple this with his tallent you've got a fighter who's in with a great chance of beating GSP, I know GSP posesses insane skills of his own along with the most natural of abilities but this would be a very close fight outside of the 'On paper' talk. I will however admit it may not happen in a first fight but that fight will prove too much for people to resist interms of a rematch & this will or may give Diaz the UFC welterweight title???

Nick Diaz
33 Fights 25 Wins 7 Losses
Knockout, Wins 13 Losses 2
Submission, Wins 8 Losses 0
Decision, Wins 4 Losses 5
No contests 1

Jerry's... I mean Mitchell's final thought.

You may love Georges St-Pierre & hate Nick Diaz but at least respect the mans tallent & therefore chance of winning the UFC title whether or not it be in the 1st, 2nd or even 3rd fight!!!

RE: UFC
GSP's my favourite fighter.Had huge admiration for the guy since he destroyed Matt Hughes @ UFC 65.What makes GSP such a popular fighter is his character. The guys a gent.Classy in defeat and in victory.Like he showed recently against Dan Hardy and Josh Koscheck. A real humble decent lad. He's not a violent guy,he's a professional MMArtist. No trash talk,no bullshit, just business.

I read something about GSP and his ability to control his opponents and the tempo of his fights and it was top class and made so much sense.

He's got the best skills in the game. Can anyone find a weakness? He's the best wrestler in the Division. He's submitted submisssion specialist Matt Hughes and can stand and fight with the hardest hitters in the division.

His best attribute though is his ability to control the tempo of his fights. When he fights high tempo fighters like BJ Penn or Dan Hardy he slows the fight down to a canter. This frustrates these kinds of fighters and throws their high tempo game plan straight out the window. When he fought slow grinder John Fitch he attacked him straight away, came flying at him and Fitch couldn't handle it.He couldn't take the pace and GSP beat him down big time for 5 rounds.GSP studies the pace his opponents fight at and he goes the opposite way.

Any time i've seen Nick Diaz fight he's managed to draw his opponent into a brawl.Regardless of what his opponents game plan is.GSP is mentally stronger than anybody Diaz has ever fought. He'll handle the barrage of punches and trash talk Diaz will throw at him during the fight without getting drawn into a scrap/brawl.GSP has the skillset to destroy Nick Diaz if he keeps calm.Which is his strength.

Diaz will no doubt try and get into GSP's head.Like Koscheck tried to and failed big time.

GSP is head and shoulders above any Welterweight in the world now.For me the only way to beat him is by getting inside his head and breaking him.Making him lose his legendary cool head.If Nick Diaz is the lad to carry this off then i'll be the first one on here to say well done.

RE: UFC
Much agreed there but Nick Diaz is a very tallented fighter & his attitude will not let him performe like Josh Koscheck & Jake Shields, Diaz not Shields is the best fighter in their gym & has many skills & tallents to put himself in with a chance of an even fight, note I'm not saying he'll beat GSP in the same way you think GSP will destroy among other things Diaz, I'm simply saying his mental strength probably won't let him fade away like the previous two in the same way as GSP's mental strength won't let him be drawn in by the Diaz psychology.

I believe this has all the ingredients of a very good fight & Nick Diaz may be the only fighter who can bring out the best in GSP, the type of fight he fought against Matt Serra & with Diaz's unorthodox style this would make it a very open & welcome fight!!!

Since losing a doctors stoppage to KJ Noons in November 2007 Nick Diaz is 10-0, 6 TKO, 3 submissions & 1 decision. Since his TKO loss to Matt Serra in April 2007 George St-Pierre is 9-0, 2 TKO, 1 submission & 6 decisions, this is quite interesting as to how their fight would be fought should it happen'
Since his defeat of Paul Daley Nick Diaz has said his options of MMA fights are not great & has been looking at another professional boxing match with former IBF super middleweight champion Jeff Lacy a possibility althought the lure of a return to the UFC & a fight with GSP could put that on hold but then again Diaz isn't the kind of person to go running when Dana White starts to call.

UFC 129 fighters pay, the figures below probably won't include the UFC's so called 'Locker room bonuses', thus being the reason Jake Shields only got $75,000 although considering he lost what other bonuses were available I'm not sure, Mark Hominick getting $6,000 (I hope this is a typo) is a fuckin joke if I've ever heard one!!!

Georges St-Pierre: $400,000 ($200,000 to show, $200,000 win bonus)
Lyoto Machida: $329,000 ($200,000 to show, $129,000 Knockout of the Night bonus)
Randy Couture: $250,000
Jose Aldo: $177,000 ($24,000 to show, $24,000 win bonus, $129,000 Fight of the Night bonus)
Pablo Garza: $137,000 ($4,000 to show, $4,000 win bonus, $129,000 Submission of the Night bonus)
Mark Hominick: $135,000 ($6,000 to show, $129,000 Fight of the Night bonus)
Jake Shields: $75,000
Vladimir Matyushenko: $62,000 ($31,000 to show, $31,000 win bonus)
Jason MacDonald: $52,000 ($26,000 to show, $26,000 win bonus)
Nate Diaz: $33,000
Ben Henderson: $32,000 ($16,000 to show, $16,000 win bonus)
Jake Ellenberger: $32,000 ($16,000 to show, $16,000 win bonus)
Rory MacDonald: $16,000 ($8,000 to show, $8,000 win bonus)
Mark Bocek: $15,000
Claude Patrick: $12,000 ($6,000 to show, $6,000 win bonus)
John Makdessi: $12,000 ($6,000 to show, $6,000 win bonus)
Daniel Roberts: $12,000
Jason Brilz: $11,000
Charlie Valencia: $10,000
Ryan Jensen: $10,000
Ivan Menjivar: $8,000 ($4,000 to show, $4,000 win bonus)
Kyle Watson: $8,000
Sean Pierson: $6,000
Yves Jabouin: $4,000
