Dalglish has succeeded any ‘expectations’, How is this when we'll finish around 20 points behind the winners, 15 to 20 points is the usual for us in 4th or 5th place, so Kenny would've been expected to get the kind of finish he has done, therefore he obviously coped with the pressure as did the players,

It amazes me that people seem to think Liverpool players & managment don't have the mentality to succeed yet we always bounce back to where we have been for the past 20 years, yes thoses 20 years haven't been good enough but the moden day premier League is greatly different, proven by the likes of Bolton, Tottenham & Sunderland before Darren Bent side stepped to Aston Villa yet people still seem to think we haven't got what it takes, don't you all remember the 2006 FA Cup final or the 2005 European Cup final & all the games that went with it!!!

A bit of credit people, a bit of credit. Look at what you see, don't just believe what you used to read!!!

But we were miles ahead of Citeh before he came along with already being in the Champions League (At the expense of Liverpool I’m sure you’ll remember Wink ) and being serious title contenders a few years prior so comparisons with both them and Everton don’t really work.

I was trying to say that some Chelsea fans a have got carried away with recent success & don't remember all the hard work the Claudio Ranieri side did without any of Roman's money (I think) & the same with Tottenham, so what makes you think it can't be any different with Liverpool.
Chelsea weren't in the European Cup every season before the Russian rubles but Liverpool have more or less consistently been there all the way through all the poor seasons we've had & now with the club in it's best shape prior to the Heysel disaster & things being done in the right manor we have put ourselves in with a great chance of getting some consistency which will give us a great chance of closing the usual 15 to 20 point gap or maybe even putting together some sort of title challenge.

The Man City part was now they're 2 games away from the big league they'll think that they are now a top 4 side & think they'll be there every year & making statments that they're gonna win the league, yes it happened at Chelsea but City will no doubt go about things in the same manor as Real Madrid, buying all the big names without a thought of how things are gonna work & then sacking the manager when the mish mash of expensive signings don't quite work out as they did in the dream the night before.

As for Arsenal, as I've said before I don't see them winning the Premier League again under Arsene Wenger, the reason being his style as good as it is is too predictable & has now become reasonable for teams like Stoke & Bolton to not only stop them playing but also to get results against them, that said I don't see them falling out of the top 4 on a permanent basis as they are one of if not the best team when it comes to putting a 10 game winning run together although that is very dificult in the Premier League nowadays.
If they were gonna win the league it would've been this season when Utd & Chelsea weren't at their best for large parts of the season yet Arsenal couldn't capitalise on that & I don't see it changing in the next few seasons.

I think Liverpool, Arseanl, City & Tottenham will have to make do with the fact that from now on there will be 2 of them not getting in the European Cup & this will spell danger for the 5th placed team for the following season unless they use the shitty cup to play a young side, depending on the performances of these teams & the changes at Chelsea with a few players in & out & the change in manager (At some point) at Utd along with the new young side there may even be a possibility of one of these sides not getting in the European Cup on the odd occasion???

A TOP MANAGER? Are you sure? Besides, doesn't Redknapp have a court case coming up this summer, which may result in him not being at Tottenham cometh August? My understanding is that Tottenham are already making contingency plans for this and the FC Porto coach (forgotten his name but he's supposedly a Mourinho mini-me but with a far more attacking-minded football philosophy) is apparently top of their list. Then they probably would have a top manager as opposed to a Cockney gobshite rent-a-quote who the media love and big-up as a result and whose lack of real success on his CV is thus papered over.

I hear that many Tottenham fans of a match-going persuasion would actually be glad if Van Der Vaart left as he's a player without a true position who's succeeded in fucking up Spurs fluency of last season. This is akin to Ruud Van Nistelrooy at Old Trafford - great individual goalscoring record but his style of play meant that other players' attacking qualities had to be curbed so as to accommodate him, and hence United's worse Premiership performances ever table-wise whilst he was at the club.

For the amount of money City have spent over the past couple or so years I'd expect a lot more than the giddyness that ensued once they got that fourth place the other night! To put it into perspective, Chelsea will be dissappointed to have finished second and Arsenal are also pissed-off with coming third (most probably!). I don't think Tottenham felt sorry for themselves post-Real Madrid; they're simply not good enough to compete with the top clubs season after season because they lack consistency and strength in depth. They tend to look good/unlucky in the big glamour games on a midweek night at White Hart Lane but that's nowhere near good enough. People should also stop reading into the Harry Redknapp bullshit propaganda and take a much closer look at what the guy has actually achieved in comparison with many other managers!

RE: Football Banter
I never mentioned Rafael van der Vaart so I don't get why you have my post as the question to your answer.

How can you say Tottenham are, "not good enough to compete with the top clubs season after season because they lack consistency and strength in depth", it's their first season competing at this level so to judge them on one season is a bit silly & unfair, being in the European Cup would've had something to do with their consistency from the day they beat AC Milan in the San Siro they've only won 1 game so the mental aspect of a European Cup quarter-finals in their first season in the competition possibly had some effect.

Your hatred for Harry Redknapp seems like it's nothing to do with football & other than some over the top Arsenal fans you may be the only football fan on this forum who doesn't think he's a good manager.

"People should also stop reading into the Harry Redknapp bullshit propaganda and take a much closer look at what the guy has actually achieved in comparison with many other managers!"

I can't be arsed to look into the facts but how many times has he saved a team from relegation or gained promotion with, yes he's also suffered relegation
(I think) but that's often a sign of a very shit team that sometimes even the manager can't do anything about.
Since he's been given his chance to manage a bigger club than West Ham, Portsmouth or Southampton he's only gone one way & thats up the table. There was always gonna come a time when things got tough & that time has come at the end of this season, so with no (Probably) European football next season & just like Redknapp's seconed season in charge they can concentrate on getting into the top 4, with a few new signings to improve their overall squad, a centre back or 2 & maybe a defensive midfielder & new striker I don't see why this won't be possible.

Harry Redknapp should be given massive credit for what he's done at Tottenham, yes they've spent big but that wasn't from some super rich guy who all of a sudden thought he'd like to buy a football club as he's a bit bored today.

Fergie didn't exactly have much competition untill Arsene came along but people still 'read into' him as the best of all time, how can this be if for the best part of 10 years he had no competition....

Harry's top notch in my eyes.Who cares about all the courtcase nonsense. It's got nothing to do with his ability to coach and manage a football team.Love watching his press conferences aswell.Great stuff.Could listen to him for hours.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footbal...iment.html

spurs and arsenal have one thing in common they bottle it at the pressure points where as man utd and chelsea grind out the results despite playing shite in some games. (fergie time)

Ah well that's what you get for being a lazy arse and not reading back through the thread. Wink

As for weeks that you have not predicted. What the fuck? Do you think I'm some sort of saddo pouring over his spreadsheets until the wee hours of the morning?

Ahem, I will have your answer in the next few days. Blush
