RE: Football Banter
This puts into context the level of dominance by United in Manchester since City last won a trophy before yesterday.
Hypothetical story but in 1976 a father who has two sons, one a United fan and the other a City fan, decides that he will compensate either boy at the end of each season if their team has failed to win a trophy.
He says that if either side fail to win a trophy in consecutive years then he will double his compensation to his sons until they win a trophy and then their compensation will re-start from 1p. In 1976 he rewards his United-supporting son with 1p whilst the City-supporting son gets nothing as they won the League Cup that season.
By yesterday, when City finally won a trophy, the father had paid out his United-supporting son a total of 52pence. In that same time he had paid his City-supporting son a total of £85,899,345.91
Enough to buy a couple of players to strenghen their squad for next season!

Like Captain Vimes rightly said through gritted teeth, Ferguson is a master of the art of saying just the right thing to get people in authority thinking and for the people at the centre of events such as referees to take his comments onto the field of play.
However, I feel he misses an awful lot of opportunities to be even more devious; if I was his personal scriptwriter - a job I'd love to do for free - then he'd be much, much better at the job still!
Nontheless, at least Evertonian Vimes should be pleased that the Dirties are no longer England's most successful title-winning team
Hopefully Ferguson'll say something regards Barcelona's play-acting and imaginary card-waving antics before the Champions League Final, not that it would most likely make much difference either to the outcome of the match or to the attitude of the Spaniards. We play a more physical type of game in England than they do abroad and English clubs are always going to be up against it against the best European sides - just ask Tottenham and Arsenal fans from this season or Chelsea fans, who's team tends to get screwed by foreign officialdom every year.
The facts state that a match played between an English team and a European team will always be refereed by a European referee.

RE: Football Banter
Utd v Chelsea, Branislav Ivanović I think fouls Wayne Rooney, well I say foul he ran into him & pushed him over at which point in any other game Rooney would've just got up & played on but considering what was at stake what did Rooney do, yup a little roll & hold himself as if he'd been smashed with the worst tackle you'd ever seen & then.... A sly look to see if the ref was taking action before getting up & getting on with the game as if nothing had happened, no rub of his wound just carry on like it was nothing except a booking for Ivanović or it may have been trying to get himsent off as I can't remember which happened first the booking or the play acting.
So it's not just Barca, as one Utd fan has put it to me in a PM that one club is making plans to possibly replace their manager it looks like you lot are already blaming the Barca players, well in doing so don't forget about Wayne & his world of honesty.

Well hardlines to Forrest they gave their all, just wasn't to be their night, cracking game of football but heartache for whoever was going to lose tonight, Swansea what a chance now to make history, at the end of the day it won't be the best team that wins the final but the one that show's the most bottle. Play - Offs are really tense affairs and the nerves it brings is absolutely shattering, the big prize of the Premiership that awaits the winner is like winning the Lottery with all the money that it bring's for the clubs lucky enough to reach the big time. The dreams of the Man Utds, Arsenal's, Liverpool's and Chelsea's visiting your ground is really is a mouth watering prospect so a lot at stake now and the best of luck to whoever claims the big prize.
