They have playe some great attacking football.
But you have to ask the question about their defense.... they didn't have one. They have the worse back 4 that I have seen in the Premiership.
You've obviously forgotten Derby a few seasons back. A quick check on Wikipedia shows they let in a massive 89 goals during the 2007-8 season. Blackpool's defence, which conceded 78 this time, seems positively robust by comparison. Even Burnley conceded more last season (82).

RE: Football Banter
I too was sad to see Birmingham and especially Blackpool go down who have given 100% entertainment to the Premier League and not the usual which a lot of promoted teams have done when they have gone to places such as Old Trafford and Stafford Bridge by playing defensive football. Blackpool have given their all and had a right good bloody go from the word go so the fact they have been relegated just goes to show that their simply isn't any justice. Birmingham on the other hand have just gone through a bad period since winning the Carling Cup and too were very unlucky, but lesson's to be learned is that you just can't afford to be complacent when it comes to the Premier League as it has proved to be costly. As for my team Dundee United well I'm absolutely delighted that Celtic won the Scottish Cup on Saturday because that result has just put my team into Europe, hopefully the draw will be kind to us and we could make in into the group stages, a lot of people and especially in England tend to forget that during the eighties Dundee United were a force to be reckoned with when it came to Europe culminating in reaching the UEFA Cup Final in 1987 after beating the likes of Barcelona home and away onroute to the final.

ray wilkins might have done due to him being sacked in november, there several different stories why wilkins got sacked from anti-semetic to calling abramovich a murderer, gangster etc.
did not know fulham had gone 37 league games without a red card then zoltan gera comes on as a sub and gets sent off in the last game of the season, what an idiot.
qpr would be the strongest out of the 3 championship teams to stay up. they have money, some quality players, a manager that was shafted by the premier league wanting revenge by keeping qpr in the premier league.
afc wimbledon promoted to league 2 and are 46 games away from meeting mk dons in professional football. a record 6 promotions in 9 seasons. they too got shafted this time by the fa allowing the owners of wimbledon fc to move to milton keynes. this not the nfl.

If ITV had the Premiership rights then the Tic-Tac men would probably have made another unscheduled appearance just as the penalty was about to be struck!

Saw them yesterday against a totally demotivated United looking to avoid injuries ahead of this coming Saturday and couldn't believe how dreadful they looked at the back! Unbelievably naiive and certain to lose their best players and maybe their manager too, and any remote chance of returning to the Premiership any time soon as a result.

I'm not so sure on this one. Swansea in particular play very good football and I think will be a very tricky place to go to next season should they secure promotion next Monday. Queens Park Rangers and Norwich have also gone up by playing football the right way; perhaps the top flight is undergoing some sort of cleansing where negative-minded managers and their teams are concerned!

You must be forgetting Swindon Town, who admittedly in a 42-game season in 1993/94 lost 0-5 at home to Liverpool on the last day of the season to achieve the unenviable distinction of conceding exactly 100 goals in their only Premiership season.

Abramovich certainly has much to answer for, given his constant chopping and changing of managers, but Ancelotti was no great appointment. Yes he won two Champoins Leagues, and I recall his AC Milan team of Kaka et al giving United a real footballing lesson in the Semi-final of 2007, but I always think back to how good a side that Milan side looked back then and the personnel they had and wondered how the hell the man only managed to win ONE Serie A title in eight years with THOSE players!!!
