You are a splinter group at best from the one true faith.

The 18 league titles and 5 five (that'll be Five, 5 then Captain, burp) European cups are mere incidentals. Wink

Not with me no! Just more embarassment for the club.As I recall when he turned up with Cov for the FA cup last year he was getting loads from the Tilton about his past activities, but football being what it is no doubt those same fans will forgive anything if he starts scoring goals.

RE: Football Banter
We won't hold it against the lad mate.Steven Gerrard once committed the sin of pulling on a utd jersey as a kid.

From his autobiography:

"I detested United with a passion and loathed the idea of putting on one of their strips. But this was different.

"A mate owned a Robson top. We were kicking about, and I asked if I could be Robbo for a while. I slipped out of my Liverpool shirt and put the Robson one on, and it felt fantastic. I wore it for an hour, charging all over, flying into tackles, scoring brave goals, pretending I was him.

"Because it had Robson's name on it, I forgot about the United bit. It didn?t seem like treachery. Unfortunately, my dad looked out and went ballistic. 'Get inside now', he screamed. Scarcely through the door, I ran into a right good grilling. 'What the hell are you playing at, wearing a United shirt?' he asked.

'But, dad, it's Bryan Robson's', I explained. Dad couldn't have cared less. It was United, and he wasn't having any kid of his dragging the Gerrard name through the Huyton gutter. What would the neighbours think? Honestly, I thought we were going to have to move house."

I see that article is also from the s*n newspaper...and we all know that's a bastion of truth dont weRolleyes

Seems Liverpool arent the only club paying over-inflated prices for young british players with raw potential, i.e Phil Jones.

Judge me by my size do you? Hmmm? Hmmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the force. And a powerful ally it is.

That'll probably be the reason why the likes of Ground missed the storyRolleyes!

But you're right regards the paying of over-inflated prices for British players. I've rated Jones for over a year and whilst Ryan Giggs is obviously the new John Terry off-the-pitch, Phil Jones has struck me as potentially the new John Terry on-the-pitch.

The government's 50% taxation on high-earners, ie professional footballers means that top-notch established foreigners from the major European leagues have to be paid ridiculous salaries to make coming to the Premiership worth their while after tax, hence this close-season's thus far at least trend to buy British.

But at those ages, potential is all you're really buying, and Ferguson and Dalglish, together with Wenger are probably the men most likely to nurture that potential in the coming years, and we'll probably look back in five years time when the likes of Manchester City are paying ever-more stupid money and congratulate ourselves for having nicked players for only £20millionRolleyes!
