Wrong!
All of the riots are the result of mindless twats causing mayhem/looting etc through sheer opportunism. It has nothing to do with the Mark Duggan situation (regardless of the ins and outs of that situation). Even his family say it has nothing to do with it ffs.
The original peaceful protest was understandable. No riot is excusable and is never anything more than mindless destruction. No amount of retrospective attempts at justification will ever make it anything else.

So, let me get this straight - what you, without possesion of the full facts and details of the original shooting situation, deem heavy handed tactics by the police = bad/racist/endemic of the police force
Similarly heavy handed tactics being carried out by the army = totally fine?!?!?!?!?!?
Now I don't wanna say "contradictory stance"....................
*Don't try and nitpick over the difference between 'beating' someone and 'shooting' them - as both can result in the death of someone, irrespective of the original intent
Also, if you want to throw around the accusation of police racism then you might find this link interesting reading http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/aug/08...m-shooting
It's the countries leading black newspaper that states the gang connections etc thus creating the notion that he may have been a viable threat. Of course his family are going to say he was a good boy and wasn't involved in such things. He may well not have been. He equally may well have been involved in such things, and there are plenty of things to suggest this. But the fact is, other than those directly connected/involved, nobody knows and anybody unconnected getting involved in this is simply guilty of speculation and bandwagonism.
But the moment this situation stopped being a peaceful protest and became riots it stopped having anything to do with the shooting.

RE: UK Riots
This isn't going to do the national deficit any good!! I bet the rest of the world are laughing at us and at our police force as they handle
this, I bet any lawyers are rubbing their hands with glee, looking foward to seeing how many police officers careers they can f**k
up with suing them. That's the real reason the police can't be heavy handed with the'se twats bercause if they hit just one of them the PC brigade lawyers will sue them for every penny they've got,
so these twats can get free cash out of hard working officers, who are simply doing their jobs with their hands tied behind their backs.
I bet the real hard nosed officers who love a good scrap, are sitting beind desk dealing with all the red tape!!
Now all Mr Cameron can do is chair a second COBRA meeting to discuss it!! I'd loove to hear what is actually said at these meeting becauseas far as I'm concerned yesterday's meeting doesn't seem to have acheived very much except to tell the cops to be "good boys and don't hurt anyone, because we can't afford the compensation payouts!!"
Come on Mr Cameron, get get yr finger out, enough is f*****g enough are you going to wait before inncoent peoople are killed before you do somehing that does frighten the shit out of these c***s? I wonder just how many of them are asylum seekers who shouldn't be here in the first place?

The peaceful protest that became a riot in Tottenham was because a policeman struck a 16 year old girl in the face. The rest of the riots had no cause/link and is opportunistic destruction.
- Killing a man who is sitting in a cab is heavy handed.
- Attacking rioters in order to stop them causing increased destruction to various areas of London and beyond is justifiable, since as you say, they are unrelated to the shooting.
There's anarchy on the streets, the police can't handle it...so other than Ghostbusters, who are you gonna call?
Its so easy for Caucasians to dismiss racism, you never experience it to the extent everyone else does, you can never understand
