Cheshire, he's not a bad Chairman, he's took them from an out of business Conference team to the Championship & help move them into a new stadium but the money doesn't last forever.

Quite a few shocks in the Carling Cup, with QPR, Swansea, Norwich and Sunderland all losing! Will there be more upsets tonight?!
In the Champions League, glad to see a team that I have a soft spot for going through....Bayern Munich!

No all these teams put out their reserve / youth teams.
The Premiership teams don't give a hoot if they win or lose in the Carling Cup.
Which begs the questions as to why we bother having it in the first place.
Not completely true. If you look at Sunderland's line-up, they had a pretty strong team out (well, by their standards anyway).
Neil Warnock has even gone on record as saying that he is not disappointed that QPR are out, because the competition is not a priority for him. It's not a priority for the "smaller" Premier League teams because staying up is more important (just ask Birmingham ) and it isn't for the bigger teams because it doesn't earn them squillions of pounds. There again, it does offer teams like Arsenal and Liverpool their best (maybe only) chance of a trophy.
The Carling Cup, let's remember, is a competition organised by the Football League. So perhaps it should be for Football League teams only. Kick all the Premier League teams out if they show such contempt for it. They can have the automatic Europa League spot as compensation.
One final comment: I hope Wigan decide to rest their best players for their round 2 tie

The FA don't even care about it why else would the schedule it at the same time as international friendlys? We had something like 7 first teamers away on international duty during the first round
