Oh dear. Looks like the Gold medal is out of reach now for Jess Ennis. Bit of a nightmare Javelin and its all over barring a miracle in the 800m

Jessica Ennis flew around the track but failed to make enough points to win the gold.

Fantastic effort in the 800 from Jess and I honestly think this disappointment might be good for her. She's the poster girl for the Olympics for obvious reasons but it seems to be assumed that she'll win next year. This should remind people that there are other athletes out there and it will be a huge motivation for her to improve her weaker events.
I'd still do her anyway.

Even if Jessica Ennis had equalled her personal best heptathlon points score it still would not have been good enough for Gold. Credit to Chernova, she performed well and in a way this result may hopefully dampen down the expectation levels a bit for 2012 in respect of Jessicas prospects. There were positives despite it all such as PBs in the shotput and 800m. A below par high jump and a nightmare javelin scuppered things somewhat but I feel confident that she will have learnt a lot from this experience and will come back strong next year, lets hope for Gold in London but not pile too much pressure on her to do it.

it was the poor performances in the hurdles and high jump which cost jess ennis. the more important event is next year.

she beat chernova in 5 of the 7 events and still come out second best! shes deffo got to improve in the throwing events especially the javelin and it was also sothertons weakest event as well and it cost her alot of medals.

Great today to get Wales Gold and England Silver

5 medals so far with 7 the target, and with 2 triple jumps to come, and the relays, Mo again in the 5000, Goldie in the Javelin, and our Yank in the womens 100m Hurdles, and Jenny and Jacko in the 800, Tommo up for the Long Jump, we might just over acheive after a shaky start....Come On GB.
