RE: UFC
I forgot it was on. Rolleyes

UFC 135 ESPN 2am

Nate Diaz v Takanori Gomi
Both need a win & I think Diaz will get it by triangle choke during a spot of groundnpound by Gomi, round 2 maybe??? - Diaz Submission
Travis Browne v Rob Broughton
Two UFC new comers. Browne's 11-0 with 1 draw & 9 KO's so Braughton will have his work cut out, Broughton's got good fight experience 15-5 but this is a big step up, he's got a good almost even mix of KO's (7) & subs (5) so it could be a decent match up albeit quick one. - Browne TKO
Ben Rothwell v Mark Hunt
I've only seen Rothwell in his 2 UFC fights 1-1 but he's 31-7 KO's 18 Subs 10 overall & at 6f 5in & 265lb is a big unit.
I can't really remember Hunt's first 2 UFC fights but he's giving away a lot of hight here so might need to use his 30-13, 13 KO's kickboxing record if he's to improve his 6-7 MMA record, that said his record does come from Pride, Dream & the UFC with wins over Wanderlei Silva, Cro Cop & losses to Fedor & Overeem. - Rothwell KO
Matt Hughes v Josh Koscheck
Didn't care for this fight before the injury & albeit this looks a bit more exciting I'm still not fussed. - Koscheck Groundnpound
Jon Jones v Quinton Jackson
Jones is unbeaten bar the DQ v Hamill but I still think he's got big tests to come & at this stage aren't sure if he is gonna rule like GSP & Anderson Silva. I think Ryan Bader thought he was the one who would go on to do what Jones has so might have took him a little lightly & Shogun himself still has something to prove at the top in the UFC & this is why for me Jones still has some way to go before people start saying he's a dominant force, this should be a decent test.
I say decent test but that will be decided on which Rampage enters the cage as in his UFC career he's somewhat struggled to keep a consistant run going against the top level fighters. I've not seen any of the build up but have heard he looks good but this has been said before & with Jones being a great controling wrestler & Rampage hating to fight wrestlers this maybe another one of those performances unless he can start off on the front foot & chase down Jones but it's what happens if Jones gets an early dominating takedown that might set out how this fight goes. I don't have any clue how this is gonna finish so will go rock, paper, sissors. Errr... - Rampage Groundnpound

Although someone already got this result down o Rampages Wiki page but it's since changed while I've been doing this post. bladewave
Loss 32-9 Jon Jones Submission (rear naked choke) UFC 135 September 24, 2011 Round 1 Time 3:04 Denver, Colorado, United States - For the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. Should I put a bet on or not???

Nate Diaz v Takanori Gomi
Ok so the groundnpound wasn't there & it wasn't a triangle choke but the end did start with Gomi on top then getting submitted. I done did tell ya'll, I done did tell ya'll!!!
Travis Browne v Rob Broughton
This wasn't a great fight in the slightest, Browne didn't attack much eventhough he was the lead fighter & Broughton didn't have any answer to the size & foot work of Browne.
Ben Rothwell v Mark Hunt
This became interesting to watch for all the wrong reasons, both fighters should've known where they were fighting & should've adjusted their training to suit the climate. Fair play to both for staying in it to the end though. "He's gone totally chicken legged" Big Laugh
Matt Hughes v Josh Koscheck
Matt Hughes should've retired about 3 fights back, he did what he did in the early days but he's always been just a wrestler even in the past 3 years when the sport started to get more diverse. Why leave it to when he's sat in the kitchen with his wife & kids when he could've said it in front of the paying fans???
Jon Jones v Quinton Jackson
Rock, paper, sissors is fuckin stupid!!! even I didn't believe that shit. Rampage isn't gonna last too much longer at this level the same as Rich Franklin didn't, Rampage only wants to stand in front of people & throw punches, he's not one for the aspects of MMA, yeah everyone likes him but his style is dated!!!
So thats that then Jon Jones is the shit. His reach, hight & agility was just too much for Rampage's one dimensional style although I still feel he hasn't been tested that well yet. Rashad Evans will be a different fight as he's very good at strategizing a fight & will also look to attack Jones but then again Evans is only 5f 11inch where as Jones is 6f 4inch so Rashad's got his work cut out already. "The guy can't bust a grape" Big Laugh

Whoever tried to alter this at about 14:15 yesterday had a good go at it with the actual result being. Rear naked choke at 1:14 in the 4th.

Yeah felt like a fool watchin Bones take Rampage apart after predicting he'd lose!!! Rolleyes Heart over head for me last night.Jones looks like he's got the lot but he'll get a better test against Evans, totally different prospect than Rampage.Rampage is quite boring now, so predictable.Jones is only 24,scary thought for the rest.

Great performance from Nate Diaz.

RE: UFC
Another easy win for Jones in 2011, this time against Jackson. Koscheck/Hughes was a good one round fight, I don't like Koscheck so him winning left a sour taste in the mouth.

After two years I've finally given myself an avatar and a signature as well! It's like a bus, you wait for one for ages and two come at once!

RE: UFC
iv'e only been a fan for about 5 and a half years of MMA so im not that passionate about the guys fighting... rarely do i bother rating how good a fighter is other than looking at his last 2 fights. the reason is that the game has changed so much in the last 3 years... now if i hear "X-pride champion!" i think yeah the guy can probably fight but the chance of him becoming a UFC champ are slim. i often just rate them as journeymen. rampage admitted as much himself. he had a perfect camp but was in awe of bones jones and just couldn't figure out what was coming next. (i predict retirement)
as for evans i dont see what he can bring to the table that could unsettle jones enough to enable him to get close enough to use his power. if anything jones will see evans as a bigger threat that rampage so will up his game and make even shorter work of him.
personally i think its great that proper MMA fighters are finally coming through the ranks as it makes every 1 step up there game. the likes of ST piere, jones, silva really are taking on the mantle of the new generation and running with it. gone are the days where most fights just turn into boxing matches and personally im more than happy to see the back of the likes of lidel, rampage (the street fighters) in favor of real more rounded mixed martial artists.

RE: UFC
I agree with that Hex (except calling Chuck and Rampage streetfighters) being one dimensional just doesn't cut it anymore.
finally got round to watching TUF yesterday, those guys had skill felt unlucky for quite a few of them. Seemed a lot higher level than previous years although i've not followed a full season since the last time Bisping was on.

I don't see who's beating Jones until he moves up to heavyweight. the last round of Rothwell-hunt was a joke Rothwell was so knackered he could barely stand up. Hughes is done he was doing ok and it was fairly even but everytime Kos landed Hughes was in trouble.

RE: UFC
I love the old school fighters who come to hunt there opponents down and put them to sleep with one big punch but they're few and far between now.

If you look at all the UFC Champions they're all well rounded fighters.

Dominick Cruz,Jose Aldo,Frankie Edgar,GSP,Anderson Silva,Jon Jones and Cain Velasquez all have pretty flawless games.

Another thing, with the exception of Jose Aldo and maybe Anderson silva who's a Blackbelt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu,Muay Thai,Judo and Taekwondo all these lads can wrestle. They're all dynamic and hard to land a blow on.When's the last time you saw any of them get properly tagged (apart from Edgar against Maynard).

The only fighter out of them all i can see losing his belt anytime soon is Cain Velasquez.Think Dos Santos will beat him in November and maybe Edgar when he fights Maynard but that'll be close.

All 7 guys are brilliant.

RE: UFC
It's not so much the majority of the new breed but as groundnpound pointed out more so just the champions who are dominant, most of the other fighters are grouped in fairly even but the champions are too far ahead of the rest.
I'd agree on the Cain Velasquez & Frankie Edgar point as the heavyweight & lightweight divisions are very tough albeit I think Velasquez has the ability to go on & keep the belt for a good 3 to 4 fights but I think Gray Maynard will beat Edgar.

I'd love to see a new breed of old school fighters like Tank Abbott & Cabbage Correira, you can't beat a good old fist on fist 1 or 2 rounder now & again. Smile

RE: UFC
its not that i dont like seeing guys knock the snot outta 1 another its that guys like lidel and rampage become victims of there own hype... they start thinking. hit him in the chin and watch him crumple. but they forgot about what made them great fighters in the first place. lidel being a thai boxer seems to have forgot how to kick, rampage seems to have forgot how to wrestle. now these so called hard men of the sport are coming up against skilled men and they dont seem to know how to deal with em.
