Cyrille Diabaté v Anthony Perosh
I though this was a decent fight given not much happened at times given Diabaté is 9ft tall with a 25inch reach but his strikes early on were some big shots but he didn't follow up on many & you could see Perosh was just biding his time for the takedown & then it was all over.
Terry Etim v Eddie Faaloloto
Here's a game we can play, name things that take longer than 17sec.
Take a shit.
Wipe your arse after a good shit.
Make a cup of tea.
Make a cup of coffee.
Toast some bread.
Have a shave.
Massage yourself.... Ok less than 17sec for some.
Submit your opponent after 19 months out of the UFC octagon with injury
Now thats the way to bounce back after the first loss of your career followed by 19 long months out. Terry Etim is gonna be a massive star this time next year!!!
Thiago Alves v Papy Abedi
Thiago needed this win, although after not making weight first time round again how long he can stay in the welterweight division I'm not too sure. He's a good fighter but his ground game isn't good enough for the middleweights so I don't see him moving up in the UFC from the position he's in now & I'm not quite sure where his position is right now???
Brad Pickett v Renan Barão
I've seen a few Brad Pickett highlights but this was the first time I've seen a full fight & even though he didn't show much of his ground game from the highlights & what people say I think he'll do well in the UFC but tonight his tactics were all wrong, he stood off too far in fear of the takedown & was always having to throw the long swinging shots & was never going to win like that.
Renan Barão looks like a fucking beast with good shots & some mental knees & the speed in which he took Pickett's back should've resulted in a speed ticket. I doubt I'm the first to say this over the last few hours but.... Errr future champion.. Anyone!!!
Chris Leben v Mark Muñoz
This was never gonna go five rounds & even without the cut I think Muñoz would've got a g'n'p win in the next 7.5 minutes as Leben was knacked after the first round.
I can see Mark Muñoz getting anyone of, Alan Belcher, Yoshihiro Akiyama or Yushin Okami again, I don't see him fighting Brian Stann but knowing the UFC I can see a Chael Sonnen v Mark Muñoz number 1 contender fight happening???
As much as I'd like to see some top rank fighters come on the European shows I thought last night was one of if not the best UFC show this side of the pond so far although I'd also agree with
gazfc on the coverage, why they have to go to a break when the show is quite clearly still on I don't know, If the US show doesn't have a break then at least make it look like it does instead of coming back halfway through a promo & a look at someone back stage!!!
