I can only think it must've been something to do with his family life for him to come to a decision like this???
Having known a man who took his own life I can tell you the guy would've gone through many many hours of thinking before going through with it, & eventhrough we'll sit here saying, "Why didn't he just talk to someone", there wouldn't have been a single person on the planet who would've made a difference once he made up his mind.
Gary Speed like some have said was a quality player, one who just got on with the job of being a football player, he was the type of player who most would want in their team/squad.

Still can't believe this, I'm absolutely stunned - a true model professional. Proud to say he chose to play for our club. Thoughts to his wife and children.
Such sad news, one can only wonder what was going on in his life that lead to him having to hang himself, people say suicide is selfish, but I like to empathise, what was going on with him that made him feel that way? I just feel so sad for him
Something doesn't sit right here. I don't know anything about football and I've never heard of this man. But reading peoples comments, he was making plans, had a good career, happily married and so on. Then in course of an afternoon suddenly decides to hang himself for no obvious reason we know of yet.
Depression doesn't work like that, it's something you fight for years till you can't fight it anymore, and by that stage your normally in no fit state to run your life properly.
Very sad thing especially for his family. Did he have any children?
Were just devastated down here. Ive just got back from the pub where we watched the swansea game on sky and there were grown men in tears. We have no illusuins as to wales not being a world class team but every now and then we have a group of players come together that gives us a chance of a breakthrough
In 1994 we were just a missed penalty from qualifying for the world cup and in 2004 we lost just 1-0 in the euro playoff against russia.
in the last couple of years the under21s have been on fire and with players like ramsey and bale we could have a serious team for the next decade. we started badly in the last euros but under Gary finished with a flourish and at the end we were only one win away from second place and the playoffs and then beat norway 4-1
the sad thing is that nobody had a bad word to say about him and god only knows what it was that made him do this but our thoughts are with his family.
