I think things will change and one way is to have the lot encrpted but with a catch, in order to have them activated you pay say £5 a one off fee with the use of your switch/credit card and this will then prove that you are over 18. Or better still every single SKY Box has a slot for an interactive card, couldn't the babe channels not simply be available by the use of a card into this slot, again you register your details to prove you are over 18 and then this is sent out to you, you could simply call it an adult card. I know that all these idea's have more than likely been posted previously but it's time to look at the situation from a different angle that could make Ofcom no more of an obstacle.

Hasn't the interactive slot been removed from new sky boxes?

Exactly. You have done nothing. Like others in this thread.

What the cause needs is men of action, not the wimps that fill this thread with defeatist posts, like your post above. I notice that nobody replied to my post about the Charlton Athletic FC fans and how well their protest movement did. Then take Fathers 4 Justice as an example. According to The Times newspaper, Fathers 4 Justice became the most well known pressure group in this country within only a year of it's founding, due to their determination to publicise their cause.

As MARCEE has brilliantly put it, the campaign needs to be built on the basis that Ofcom is an example of the nanny state gone mad. It's something the public at large should be told about. So instead of making defeatist posts StanTheMan, why don't you and Scottishbloke get hold of some Batman and Robin costumes and storm the Houses of Parliament or Buckingham Palace in protest?

RE: What is now the point of these channels.
In my opinion, the sad fact remains that a short hop over the North sea, touchdown in Amsterdam, and the content you'll find on daytime TV will be stronger content that you'll probably find here in the UK. As we all no the Dutch Government have legalised practically everything, and yet no one is bothered about what is being broadcast over there.
However this countries attitude reminds me of the saying " NO SEX PLEASE WE'RE BRITISH " springs to mind. I mean so much for the UK falling in line with the rest of Europe. I agree with Scottishbloke it's not the fact that we're all a bunch of perves wanting to see stronger content it's all to do with our rights as Adults to decide what we can and cannot watch, yet the Government " Ofcom " have decided that we need to be told what we can and cannot watch. This i find is the fundamental problem.
Ofcom have been relatively quiet of late concerning the babe channels, whether that's a good thing or not, i guess time will tell. As it stands at the moment if Ofcom are happy with the babe channel content at the moment, then things should remain the same, however the Idiots at Ofcom are very unpredictable to say the least.
Will Ofcom ever go away? well they won't be around for ever lets put it this way, whether another independent regulator will step into the mix, i really don't no, or maybe the government cuts will start to take hold, who know's? All any of us can do at this moment in time is basically ride this out for the time being, lets just hope Ofcom's reign will come to an end soon.

Exactly.

I've been making the same argument for months, but people have not listened to me.

Perhaps you have found a way of putting it that people will actually pay attention to. Well done!

Well he didn't call anyone a wimp for starters Big Grin

Just for the record, I've been growing gradually bored of the whole situation in recent months and have now just about had my fill. Not only do I have very little interest in the babeshows, but my enthusiasm for the fight has dwindled too. I can't really complain to be honest, as apart from sounding off in here and signing the petition, I've done virtually nothing to change things. I've now reached the point where I honestly don't care what happens to the babeshows - I've wasted too much of my life on them anyway.

If things change, then great, but I'm not about to go on and on about it in the hope that it will. Life's too short.

I think this post sums up the way a lot of us feel to be honest. Just bored, fed up and wanna do something else. There are easier and more fulfilling ways to empty ones sacks!

Spiderman,Spiderman,does whatever a Spider can!!!

Continental to save yourself the bother of going all the way to Amsterdam (although it would be fun mind you Tongue and the last thing I'd be doing there is watching TV Big Grin ) just get yourself an 80cm Satelite dish and point it directly at 19.2 degree's or get a professional to install it as many offer foreign TV Packages, but that's still missing the point, our channels are a shambles at the moment and Ofcom are running them into the ground. As for Admirals idea of myself and Stan storming the House Of Parliament and Buckingham Palace dressed as Batman and Robin I pissed myself laughing at the very notion. Somebody once said to me that words and reports can do a lot of damage, I will continue protesting and will get in touch with my local MP and persist with e-mails to Ofcom, I might even ring them and put my complaint in over the phone and if all else fails then I'll take my army out and charge the establishments that be dressed ofcourse wearing my kilt just like Braveheart did and we'll do to Ofcom what we did to the English all those centuries ago, and you people will be able to hear the cry again of freedom!!!!! Big Grin

You'll find the answer to this in my last post. You know the bit where I said I was bored of the whole situation?

Depends on what you mean by 'new'. I have standard Sky+ (i.e not HD) and it has two card slots - one behind a cover where my Sky card lives, and an exposed one above with the words 'Interactive Card'.
