RE: UFC
Dana White: Rashad Evans Wins and Remains Injury Free, He Gets Bones Jones Next
When Rashad Evans faces Phil Davis on Jan 28 in Chicago, he will control his own destiny and his goal of facing former friend and training partner Jon ‘Bones’ Jones next.

Speculation began to swirl last week after UFC President Dana White said in an interview that Jones was already done with his vacation and looking to get back in action sooner rather than later.

He mentioned that Jones could potentially face former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Dan Henderson next, with most pointing at the UFC 145 card in Montreal as a possible landing spot.

While anything is still possible, on Tuesday when speaking with the Jim Rome Show, White says that Jones is indeed ready to get back in the cage, but if Evans can win on Jan 28 and come out unscathed, he’ll get his chance to face the champion.

“We’re working on it now. We’re going to obviously see what happens in this Rashad (Evans) fight at the end of the month. The next fight on Fox, Rashad is fighting (Phil) Davis, so we’ll see what happens there,” White said on Tuesday.

“If Rashad wins, if Rashad comes out injury free, we’ll get the Jon ‘Bones’ Jones/Rashad Evans fight going.”

That’s obviously good news for Evans, who had to be curious what the next course of action would be should he defeat Phil Davis on Jan 28 in Chicago.

Evans was always assured of a title shot with a win, but now that Jones is ready to return and the UFC 145 card in Montreal needs a main event, it just seemed to make sense to put the UFC light heavyweight champion at the top of that card.

As for Dan Henderson, he may have just become the biggest Phil Davis fan in the sport, because if Davis upsets Evans, then the long time UFC and former Pride fighter will most likely get the next shot at Jones.

The UFC on Fox 2 main event will tell the tale however. If Evans wins and comes out injury free, he may finally get his chance to settle the score with Jon Jones in the Octagon.

Dana White Says Silva vs. Sonnen 2 Would be in a Soccer Stadium
It’s no secret that a soccer stadium is on the UFC’s radar. The promotion has been rumored to be scouting locations in Sao Paulo, Brazil for early summer, which is coincidentally the time frame for injured middleweight champion Anderson Silva’s return to the Octagon.

UFC president Dana White hasn’t exactly taken a hard stance in deflecting the rumors of a record-breaking show in Brazil.

“What happens is you guys get all this sneaky information and then I say stuff at the press conference and my whole crew says, ‘What are you doing?’” White commented following UFC 139, before adding, “I don’t know if we’re going to Sao Paulo in June and if Anderson Silva is headlining the card. I have no clue. That would be awesome though,” a coy grin plastered across his face.

In a recent outtake from the new UFC Tonight series on Fuel TV, White all but confirmed that if Chael Sonnen is victorious over Mark Munoz this month at UFC on Fox 2, a rematch with Silva is on tap for a soccer stadium in South America.

“Obviously if Sonnen faces Anderson Silva, that’ll be a hot ticket. People all over the world will want to see that fight,” said the UFC boss. “If that fight goes down, it will probably be in Brazil and it will probably be in a soccer stadium.”

White also discussed the company’s plans for Japan and the rest of Asia, and even talked about the possibility of putting on an event in Paris. Check out the outtake below…

With the focus on expanding the UFC shows worldwide & the problems they have booking arenas over here it looks like no UFC UK shows for at least 12 months.

RE: UFC
UFC 142: Aldo v Mendes ESPN 3am

Edson Barboza v Terry Etim
Edson Barboza returns to his home city to fight his 2nd Englishman in a row in front of his home crowd after winning a split decision over Ross Pearson. Not your typical BBJ fighter Barboza is a black belt Muay Thai fighter with a kick boxing record of 25-3, 22 KO's & has won all 9 of his MMA fights with his last 2 earning him the fight of the night.
Somewhat surprisingly Terry Etim will be fighting in the UFC for the 10th time having signed in 2007 (6-3, 15-3 overall) with 4 Submission of the Night awards. This is a dead cert for fight of the night or sub/TKO of the night award with Etim having finished his last 5, last 4 via sub. It's a tough fight to call especially with Barboza fighting in his home city but Terry Etim seems like a very calm fighter. - Etim Submission
Erick Silva v Carlo Prater
To be honest I've never heard of either of these Brazilians. Erik Silva (13-1) has never fought outside of Brazil & is fighting for the second time in the UFC having been on the last card in Rio. Carlo Prater (29-10) is making his UFC debut. - Prater Submission
Rousimar Palhares v Mike Massenzio
Rousimar Palhares has been in the UFC a few years now gaining a (6-2) record (13-3 overall) but is yet to really make a mark for himself having fought a few top names, but he's one of the best BBJ fighters in the UFC & has improved his striking of late & will be looking to earn his 3rd straight victory against fellow BBJ black belt Mike Massenzio who having lost only 2 of his 13 fight before joining the UFC where he's 2-3 having fought a few decent opponents. - Palhares submisson
Vitor Belfort v Anthony Johnson
Having failed to make the 185lb limit & being find 20% of his earnings Anthony Johnson who weighed in at 197lbs will have to weigh in again on the day of the fight as Vitor Belfort has said he will only fight if Johnson isn't over 205lbs, if Johnson is over 205lbs then the fight will be cancelled.

If the fight does go ahead it looks like being a very exciting albeit short fight with Vitor fighting in his home city for the first time in his career & he'll be looking to get back into the title picture having been TKO'd by the informous Anderson Silva front kick before winning KO of the night against Yoshihiro Akiyama. The Silva loss was his only loss in his last 7, 5 of which he won via KO including his last 4 all but 1 of his 5 KO's have come in the 1st round.

Having gained a good name for himself at welterweight 'Rumble' Johnson is making his middleweight debut albeit at a catchweight but he no doubt has the tallent to be a big name in this division but it's gonna be a though test against 'The phenom' in Brazil, Johnson is a good wrestler with KO power but Belfort not only has KO power & some but is also lightning fast & holds black belts in BJJ, Judo & Shotokan Karate. - Belfort TKO
José Aldo v Chad Mendes
Having won all of his 11 fights Chad Mendes gets his title shot but for someone who's mostly a wrestler 7 of his 11 wins are by decision which tells you he's gonna have to go the distance of 5 rounds for the first time against the champion.
Here's a few stats.
Chad Mendes has a 68% takedown accuracy
José Aldo has a 94% takedown defence, takdown accuracy 60%
Chad Mendes has a striking defence of 74%, accuracy 47%
José Aldo has a striking accuracy of 49% - Aldo TKO

For all that haven't got their predictions in yet.

It's not on. I can't think of a UFC fighter missing weight by that much.

After two years I've finally given myself an avatar and a signature as well! It's like a bus, you wait for one for ages and two come at once!
