Tried dyndns or similar? I have phoneline broadband, and my router has dyndns support built-in. I tried it a while ago, and worked OK, not sure I'd fully trust it though.

I still think things will settle down in time. I'm not convinced the case against megaupload will hold, but I think the main purpose here is to scare everyone into some sort of compliance, and it seems to be working in that respect. I think eventually the hosters will open up again, but with content filtering in place, and like I say, that alone may make it tough to post our vids as they may be marked as 'suspect' material even though they are legitimate. Better for them if they risk pissing off a few legit users by blocking their content, rather than risk their entire business.

Illegal file sharers or legitimate uploads. Which do you think will be the lions share of the users?

You have your uploaders and most account will be the grab to grab the dvd's and stuff.

Videos posted on this forum were still being downloaded by people today. The picture shows the last videos which were downloaded, sorted by the time.



I then just did a quick test by uploading the shortest vid I could find on my computer.
This uploaded ok and I then downloaded it ok as an anonymous user, ie logged out of my account.

This was it, only 5MB of Ree, Paige and Megan last year.

I have just signed up for a free account on Rapidshare. I'll give it test run sometime tomorrow.

Does anyone know if they have a file size limit? As I've had a look in FAQ's and they seem to indicate there isn't one!!!! I always thought they had a 200MB limit. Or have the rules changed since then?

Im pretty surprised looking at your first vid, Yvette from 09. Assuming 2009 was the year you uploaded it im surpised that they havent deleted a link thats more than a year old. I still think torrents may be a good option in the future but it looks like rapidshare could be a quick fix.

Yes it used to be 200MB around a year ago. I think its 2GB at the moment for free users.

No information or alert on their homepage at the moment, but try and download a file and the following appears.

A vid will only get deleted if there have been no downloads of it in the previous 30 days.
It used to be 60 days, but was changed by them sometime last year.
So that 2009 Yvette vid, (it was uploaded in 2009) which is very good, is safe for at least another 29 days.

I would guess that about 75% of all the vids I have uploaded to rapidshare are still there.

Wow, pretty good going. I had a paid account until they started messing with the accounts a while back. Virtually overnight I lost many files that I had no backups of at the time. I let my account lapse and now have only about a dozen files left there.
It's a toss-up between re-upping what I still have and seeing what happens, or just deleting it and calling it a day!

I just recently upped everything I had remaining to megaupload, what a wasted week that was

Isn't it time admin put a banner at the top of the forum explaining about dead links, before the vid threads start being inundated with repost requests, I'm sure not everyone who comes browsing here looking for vids visits this section or pays much attention to the news?
