Filesonic & Fileserve Disable Sharing

No information or alert on their homepage at the moment, but try and download a file and the following appears.

This is what you see when trying to login to your account.

videobb are deleting videos of films and tv shows.

one host has stopped the states from accessing their content. fileserve followed filesonic.

one chap said that the media companies can have files/links removed if they can prove any copyright infringement has taken place.

first mega upload then filesonic.....

Given circumstances and reactions of the file hosters, they'll be desperately working on a business model that is acceptable in the current climate.
Doesn't help us poor sods who have content that the copyright holder allows us to share, to actually share it.
Until all the knee-jerk reactions subside, about the only hosting company we can at least for now upload to seems to be RapidShare. Not ideal, but it does at least provide a small island of hope...

Is there any reason why Hotfile hasn't been mentioned as an alternative? When I was checking out the various hosts a while back it seemed to be one of the better choices. The upload file size limit of 400MB is probably on the small size for some people but they seem to be one of the few that match Megaupload in that they don't delete files until 90 days after the last download. I just downloaded a video from them and it seemed fast enough as well.

Hotfile did a similar system clean-up to rapidshare a while back after they had a big lawsuit taken out against them in US, and pissed a lot of people off in the process by removing content and deleting accounts. They were also ordered to hand over user information, though they did put up a fight over that. The cleanup does mean that like RS they are now a pretty safe bet for legit content, but they have lost a lot of goodwill along the way.
I always found them to be hopelessly slow for uploads myself, even though thy seemed an attractive choice as they allowed folder sharing and had ftp upload access. Given a straight choice between RS and HF, I'd go for RS every time.

Same here, for a while now theyve always given me pisspoor download speed. Almost an hour to download 400MB approx. Same goes with depositfiles, ive never gotten good speed with them either.

Fileserve is back online!

Yes they have deleted most of the 'worst' content and most of the 'worst' users and have now restored their service. I think they have also ditched their rewards program or whatever it was called.

I don't beleive this now deposit files has a problem with it, what f$*k's going on >:-/
