RE: UFC
I'm with 199lives on this one, I don't think Anderson Silva was getting beat anywhere other than the score card & those points were for the amount of octagon control Chael Sonnen had, he didn't do much damage & even missed two opportunities for a submission & then still lost.

Michael Bisping isn't a KO fighter or a sub fighter, he's very good at grounding his opponent down just like Jon Fitch but he does it standing which also puts him in danger or a takedown of a Dan Henderson shot.

As far as this fight goes one of his strengths will be his takedown defence which is pretty good & even better when against the cage as he can then get a reverse into his favoured clinch against the cage position where he tends to finish a lot of fights with a TKO/groundnpound with knees & punches, but this is gonna be though against a more than likely very fired up Chael Sonnen.
He should have his takedown defence ready given he was supposed to be fighting Damian Maia although defending a takedown from a BBJ fighter is easier than defending against a top level wrestler.

UFC on Fox: Evans vs. Davis

Michael Johnson v Shane Roller
Shane Roller's only gone the distance once in 15 fights, his 6 sub wins are all by rear-naked or guillotine choke. 5 of Michael Johnson's losses are by submission.
Evan Dunham v Nik Lentz
Nik Lentz lost his last fight by decision, it was his first loss in 14 fights 12 of which he won.
After winning his first 11 Evan Dunham then lost his next 2 before winning his last fight & has never been submitted.
Demian Maia v Chris Weidman
Chris Weidman's a NCAA Division I Wrestling purple belt in BBJ so should be a good match for Maia although he's only just starting out & is only fighting Maia due to Bisping facing Sonnen.
Demian Maia's last 6 fights have all ended in a unanimous decision (6-2). 8 of his 15 wins are by submission with no sub losses & his experience should count in this fight.
Michael Bisping v Chael Sonnen
Chael Sonnen 26-11 has only won by submission 4 times & has been submitted 8 times but it's a different story when going the distance 15-1. He's also only gone 5 rounds once against Anderson Silva. He hasn't lost by TKO since 2004 where he lost twice but has since won via TKO 5 times.
Michael Bisping has only gone the distance of 3 rounds six times (4-2) & has 4 submission wins but has never been submitted, KO's 14-1. His last loss to a ground fighter was a split decision to Rashad Evans in 2007 since then he's won five of his fights via TKO (knees & punches) i.e. the cage clinch I talked about.
all the stats point to a Sonnen points win especially given this is a 3 round fight & not a 5 round main event.
For some unknown reason I can see a scramble to the feet & Sonnen tired from his controling efforts after only fighting for two rounds since August 2010 ending up against the cage with Bisping's knees raining down & the ref stopping it possibly too early for a Bisping win & a Joe Rogan & Chael Sonnen bitch fest ending in an altercation between Bisping & Sonnen. What are the odds on this??? Put me down for £1
Rashad Evans v Phil Davis
This is a big step up for Phil Davis who will be fighting a 5 round fight for the first time & has gone the full 3 rounds in 4 of his 9 fights but his advantage will be his size over Evans.
Rashad Evans has never been the distance of 5 rounds but has been in 2 title fight training camps so will have the experience as far ar preperation goes. He's on a 3 fight win streak against top level fighters & hasn't fought outside of the top names since UFC Fight Night: Evans vs Salmon where he beat Sean Salmon via KO in 2007 since then he's 6-1-1 at the top of the division which include winning & losing the Light Heavyweight title.
His only loss was a round 2 KO by Lyoto Machida when he lost his title.

RE: UFC
It doesn't matter if Sonnen was or wasn't hurting Silva. The fact is that Sonnen won each of the first four rounds on all of the judges' scorecards, with the score heading into the fifth round being 40–34, 40–35, and 40–36. Doing that against a guy that's blown everyone else in his path away, the greatest fighter of all time is pretty boss if u ask me.

The only thing I can think is, if he can do that to Anderson Silva then Bisping's gonna be an easy night for him.

I hope I'm wrong!!!

Good fight set up for May - Jim Miller vs Nate Diaz. The winner gets a title fight i'd imagine?

RE: UFC
A few minutes of the Chael Sonnen v Michael Bisping Press Conference. $29.95 Big Laugh

Does anyone know anything about the UFC Flyweight tournament in March, Demetrious Johnson was supposed to fight Eddie Wineland on the Fox card but was pulled to take part in the tournament.

I just found this.

So It's official kids, We have a Flyweight division in the UFC! Dana White broke the news during the UFC 140 Post Fight Press Conference, then Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting pressed the UFC President into confirming the tournament will take place March 3rd, 2011 on FX. There's still a few questions to be asked, as this thing seems to be a work in progress, but we do know is the match ups. The four man tournament will see Demetrious Johnson vs. Ian McCall on one end of the bracket with Yasuhiro Urushitani vs. Joseph Benavidez. An amazing set of three fights!

"Mighty Mouse" Demetrious Johnson (14-2) was coming off an impressive four-fight win streak at Bantamweight against Nick Pace, Damacio Page, Kid Yamamoto, and Miguel Torres before succumbing to the Unanimous Decision powers of champion Dominick Cruz and is universally considered at top five 135 lber. "Uncle Creepy" Ian McCall (11-2) is widely considered the #1 flyweight in the world. McCall's last loss, in January of 2009, was his last at 135 lbs as he also succumbed the unanimous decision powers of Dominick Cruz. Since the loss, McCall has been undefeated at 125 lbs, and has earned the Tachi Palace Championship belt by taking out some of the world's top flyweights like Darrell Montague and Jussier da Silva. I find this match incredibly fascinating, as McCall will most certainly want to use his footwork to keep this on the feet and pick apart Johnson, while Johnson will find his path to victory through his lightning quick double leg takedown. Will Mighty Mouse's unstoppably fast takedown be so fast against a man who isn't much larger?

Joseph Benavidez (15-2) in my book is the #2 bantamweight in the world and my pick to take and hold the new UFC Flyweight Championship for quite some time. The guy has just ran a muck on anyone who isn't named Dominick Cruz in a division above his ideal weight class. Yasuhiro Urushirani (19-4-6) is widely considered the #2 Flyweight in the world (after McCall took our da Silva and Montague) and the only man in the tournament who has not lost to Dominick Cruz (The fact that they haven't fought makes that slightly less impressive. But just slightly). The Shooto Flyweight champion has fought the world's best 125 lbers over his ten year career, and is by far the most experience fighter in the tournament. Undefeated since 2008 and finishing his last two fights in extremely violent fashion, Urushirani is a very deserving fight for Benavidez. He has a win over John Dodson, if that's worth anything to you. This one's going to be good.

There are still details on this whole situation to work out though. Will this be a one night, four man tournament where the winners meet for the main event? Or will we have the winners fight a few months down the line? With the issues that Strikeforce had with American commissions setting up their one night, four woman 135 lbs tournament, it's hard to image the UFC would attempt this. Also, if this will take place over two nights, will we get a bigger main event bout to draw in more viewers for the UFC flyweight opening bouts? Furthermore, what other 125 lbs have the UFC gotten their hands on. Tachi has done a great job gathering the world's best 125ers with Jussier da Silva, Darrel Montague, Mamoru Yamaguchi, and Ian McCall. They've picked up great prospects like Dustin Ortiz and Ulysses Gomez. Zuffa got McCall somehow, will they nab the rest of the division? Who will Zuffa pull from Asia's market of little guys? Who else will drop down to 125 lbs now that the division will open up? I can see a few of last season's TUF cast members like Josh Ferguson, Louis Gaudinot, and maybe even Marcus Brimage. I'd imagine John Dodson will try to go on a title run at 135 lbs before making the move down. These questions will all be answered in time. For now, we just get to be excited that its finally happening!

Quality from Sonnen Big Laugh The man's an entertainer! I'm starting to think he might finish Bisping early bladewave

When was that presser Mitchell? He looked properly ready and in the mood.

Might change my prediction.... Rolleyes

I think the Flyweight tournament is a 4 man thing, starting in March at the show in Australia. UFC on FX 2.

Demetrious Johnson vs Ian McCall and Joseph Benavidez vs Yasuhiro Urushitani.

The winners of the two fights will fight for the title at a later date.

It was yesterday, here's the full video.
It starts at 11:50 with the press conference at 24:20. I've not watched it but I'm sure it'll be good.

Bad show. Worst UFC show of the year so far.

After two years I've finally given myself an avatar and a signature as well! It's like a bus, you wait for one for ages and two come at once!
