a little change from all the a-z's we have on here at the moment now it's time to use our grey matter, I'll start with a simple teaser, so that you get the idea.

here we go:

A doctor in Paris has a brother in Toronto who is a lawyer.

The lawyer does not have a brother who is a doctor in Paris.

Question: How is this possible?

Nice idea for a thread. As for your brain teaser it's because the doctor in Paris is a woman, therefore the lawyer does not have a brother but a sister.

The graphic above depicts four men, buried up to their necks, about to get shot by a firing squad (ah, the poor souls).

‘A’ is facing the wall from the left, the other 3 (B, C, D) are facing the wall from the right. They know they are 3 on one side and 1 on the other. They are also lined up in a straight line and cannot see around or through the wall.

They had their hats put on at night and so they do not know what color of hat they are wearing; but they know there are four men altogether and that two of them are wearing a white hat and two a black one.

In order to for all of them to avoid being shot, one of them must call out to the executioner the colour of THEIR hat. If they get it wrong, they will all be shot. They are not allowed to talk to each other, nor is there any other form of communication.

They have 5 minutes to figure it out.

After two minutes of silence:

Which one them calls out their hat colour?

Why is he certain of the colour of his hat?

This is not a trick question. They cannot move. They are buried in a straight line. A & B can only see their respective views of the wall, C can see B, and D can see B & C.

Note: you have to give a reason. Guesswork is not permissible!

A and B can only see the Wall..so cannot know their colour so have to keep quiet.

D is in the best position since he can see C and B...but he sees 1 black and 1 white so cannot know his hats colour.He stays quiet as well

C can say his hat is Black

because if D could see 2 white hats,on C & B, he would speak but he stays quiet, as C can see B's hat is white so that means his own hat must be black.

A man transports a fox, a duck and corn in a boat.

The boat is only capable of transporting himself and one of the other three with each crossing.

Question: How did he succeed in crossing them all without letting the fox eat the duck or the duck eat the corn?

First he takes the Duck, then comes back, then he takes the Fox on the return trip he drops the Fox off but picks the Duck up and takes it back with him. Upon reaching the Corn he drops the Duck off but takes the Corn back to the Fox, on the other side. Turns around for the last time and goes back to get the Duck and take him across the river... All the time wishing for a small outboard motor.

Can you say what day of the week it was? It is pretty evident that the countryman was not such a fool as he looked.
