JOHN TERRY A DISGRACE TO ENGLAND!

All up and down this country and the rest of the world there are people doing exactly the same as John Terry's done - our future king who will one day rule over us all, mp's who believe that they know what's good for all of us, doctors who make life and death decisions every day, police officers who supposedly keep us all safe on the streets, judges who say whether we should be free to walk those streets, teachers who supposedly teach us right from wrong. If John Terry, a footballer who's decision making affects no one but himself should be sacked then let's start rounding them all up because soon there'll be no one left in the eyes of the media who have appointed themselves judge, jury and executioner over every bit part celebrity in britain. And funnily enough the same tabloid journalists who are so worried about everyone else's morals will have spent this weekend snorting, boozing and shagging with anyone who will join them.

Has he become a crap footballer overnight? - no. Wasn't it only a few months ago everyone was saying he's one of if not the best central defender in the world and man city were willing to spend a substantial proportion of their millions on him to prove it?

yes he's been an idiot and yes he's made the wrong decision in his personal life but it's his life. Personally I'd prefer a captain who's got the guts to take penalty number five in a world cup final shoot out and he has. I don't give a toss who he's shagging all I care about is that he's fit to stop messi, torres etc scoring this summer and he gets his head on a few crosses or corners.

I don't remember everyone saying beckham shouldn't be england captain because he'd been shagging rebecca loos. I seem to recall how funny everyone thought it was cos they hated victoria.

I see now reaosn why people are saying he should be striped of his captancy,he has flaws like everboady.
what he has done has nothing to do with him as a player.its not as if taking the captaincy from him acheives anything.their role has no significance in or importance in a game.

Ur missing the point, u can't compare doctor's etc wit Terry. Terry is an international football, paid vast amounts of money by his club, has had years in the spotlight, he's 29 and has been a captain for over 5 years at club level. He's in a position every boy dreams of growing up, being England captain. He has a social and moral responsibility to himself and to England fans.
Freddie Flintoff was england captain, then fredalo happened and he was sacked. They dealt with it, he remained in the team and was punished.
Your totally ignoring the aspect of trust and respect of his team mates, if these guys are going to be out there for 6 odd weeks, they need to be able to get on.

Is it much to ask that a person being paid approx £140k a week, jus to maintain sum wot of a clean image, minor indiscretions can be forgiven but this recent stuff is the tip of the iceberg.

does anyone on here actually know the correct details of what has actually happened... or is everyone basing opinions on what the papers say is the truth?

Might be a good idea though to wait for the FACTS to come to light before burying the bloke, don't you think? (all we've got so far is paper talk, the parties involved haven't said a word yet)

And at least let's hear Terry's side of the story, innocent until proven guilty is still good in this country, despite the tabloid newspapers thinking otherwise. And how much he earns is completely irrelevant, i know blokes who earn £250 a week and have cheated on their wives with a married woman, are they any less guilty? What about their responsibility to their wives and kids?

In any case, i reckon the best thing to do here is leave it to Capello to sort out (if he feels he needs to) His judgement about most things has been pretty good so far.

The only responsibility he has to England fans is to give is all on the pitch and I highly doubt many kids look up to Terry. The poster boys of world football are Ronaldo and Messi. As for his teamates, do you really think they give a damn what Terry does in his personal life? The only trust they care about is on the pitch, and in terms of ability, you can trust Terry very well as a defender. And Freddie Flintoff was very unprofessional during a tournament, if Terry gets drunk during the world cup then he should rightly be stripped of his captaincy and booted out of the tournament. But what Terry does in his personal life should have no bearing on how he does as a professional sportsman.

John terry's only responsibility in my opinion is to do his job on the field. As for his team mates respecting him. We've got rio ferdinand who missed a drugs test for whatever reason, lampard who has left his partner and child for someone else, ashley cole who has shagged half of london if the papers are to be believed and recently fined and banned for speeding, rooney - a known brothel visitor in his youth, gerrard although proven innocent putting himself in a position where he could have been done for actual bodily harm, Beckham who has shagged around in the past (and if he didn't do charlize theron after the world cup draw considering the come on she was giving him should be ashamed of himself) and that's just off the top of my head - not exactly upholders of the nations social or moral standards. If we can find a few more we can make a team up of just them. Footballers shag models etc and think with their dick it's a fact of life. Yes you can compare doctor's in particular because if terry's thinking about what he's done or his teammates are thinking about what he's done then the worst that can happen is england lose and we'll get over it. If a doctor's thinking about what he's done in a similar situation or his staff etc are then the worst that can happen is someone dies. Football's not a matter of life or death and nor is it 'more important than that' as bill shankly said - unfortunatley with hillsborough, heysel, bradford etc it's been all too sadly proven that football is not more important than life or death - it's a game.

Well according to the woman involved the press reports have stated things which were untrue, so I guess at the moment nobody's sure of exactly what happened.
