new lap dance rules
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8511883.stm
An attempt to tighten regulation of rogue lap dancing clubs or an excuse to close down large numbers of clubs?
Having experienced lap dancing clubs in Birmingham, where there is a large number of clubs, I have never found them to be particularly sleazy and considerably less of a nuisance to the surrounding area than normal nightclubs and even your average pub causes more nuisance. My suspicion is this represents another manifestation of the same kind of thinking that allows Ofcom to control our on screen choices and will be used by the moral minority on councils to close down large numbers of clubs operating well within the guidelines for their own moralistic reasons. Another example of the inability of the UK authorities to accept that adults have the right to make their own choice of lifestyle.

I have to agree with my Brummie brother here Wink

I think this country is fast becoming a nanny state...Old men in suits dictating how we live our lives. If i want to go and look at some Nekked ladies in the comfort of a Lap dance club (and if the Mrs says its alright Big Grin) then as a 32 yr old man i think i have the choice to do so as i also have the choice not to if i so wished.

In regards to the kind of nuisance these establishments cause, Birmingham does have a large number of lap dancing clubs and whilst I dont frequent them often (Honest!!!! Wink ) in my experience Men tend to be more well behaved in these environments then they would in a normal bar or club (in my experience anyway).

I just think that there are far more serious things that the government should be looking at cracking down on instead of taking away a grown man or womans right to see som god damn nekked women...or men if ur that way inclined...which im not.......honest!!! Tongue

That would be illegal.

Under new regulations a handfull, or potentially less, of local residents objecting on the grounds it would be 'inappropriate' for the area would be all the justification needed, since lap dancing clubs will no longer be treated as entertainment venues but sex establishments and existing clubs will have to re-apply for a license under the new rules.

The UK has always been a nanny state, just a hell of a lot worse since labour took over. I guess it's OK for these MP's to get blowjobs off rentboys but grown men aren't allowed to watch hardcore porn and now they want to get rid of strip clubs. Wouldn't surprise me if they don't bring in a law where you have to have a sex licence, which you have to renew with a 100 pounds a year or it's illegal to have sex.

It would be another stealth tax, would help stop 13 year old girls getting pregnant, and would be as effective as speed cameras in stopping road accidents and lining these Kunts pockets.

I agree this labour government have not exactly proven that they are authorities in regard to moral behaviour.

They don't want to get rid of strip clubs. It's unlikely that any will close in Soho, for example. But they (councils) do want to get rid of them from certain areas.

The bad news for seth and setter1000 is that the conservatives voted for this new law aswell, not just labour.
