Cricket Season 2010
The English cricket season is starting tomorrow and i want to use this thread for members on here who do play for a cricket club and are you a batsman, bowler or an all rounder.
About myself i played disabled county cricket for Hertfordshire and home matches are played at Welwyn Playing Fields. I am a bowler who bowls leg spin and i can bat a little bit but i much prefer my bowling to be honest with you, if you want to know more about my disability your more then welcome.

RE: Cricket Season 2010
I play for my local team that has the home ground a couple of hundred yards down the road. First game on Sunday against Cornwall Over 50s then its on to the league. In the Cornwall league we play 48 overs on a Saturday. Also we play in the 20/20 comp which in previous years we have been in the lower one and got to the Finals day both years, but with the first team getting promoted last year we are in a tough group against a couple of League One sides and a Premier side.
I'm a batsman (open in 20/20 or used as a pinch-hitter down the order or in 48 over bat at 4,5 or 6) who is a decent fielder and a bit of a part-time wicketkeeper. I am a rubbish bowler, wanted to bowl a bit of seam up this year but just keep bowling short and my spin is of a low quality to be honest.

RE: Cricket Season 2010
Yeah, hopefully the weather is alright for next week. Yesterday was wonderful weather for the first game which we won by 7 wickets chasing down 216 in 40 overs we got there with 7 overs to spare so fairly comfortable overall. I kept wicket, I did okay could of had a stumping wasn't required to bat in the end.

RE: Cricket Season 2010
How is everyone's season going so far?
As a club we've had trouble getting two teams out, yesterday the 1sts had ten and we had nine in the 2nds of which one was a lady and a couple of men who can't run. For me, I've not had a bad start gone up to open the batting and got 77 and 98 not out so far.

RE: Cricket Season 2010
Been in the 1st team last two weeks. Won by 1 run yesterday, we got 157 all out with the top four all getting scores in the 20s and 30s, I got 30. And we fielded and bowled well and ended up they got 156-9 off the 48 overs. Great game was really to be honest a 180 pitch, I was at the non-strikers end whilst a hat-trick was being taken that did really change the game for a time.
How's everyone season going?

RE: Cricket Season 2010
I won't be playing cricket this season as the club i used to play for said to me that i wasn't good enough to play for them which in my opinion is a load of rubbish as i was the only able bodied player where as most of my team mates are physically disabled and can't field very well. So my plan is to take a break from cricket and hopefully look for another cricket club during that time.
