I was expecting Michael White to face Carter, but John J Astley (who?) beat White and Yuan SiJun. Trailing Carter overnight though.

It is a shame not seeing Jimmy White at the Crucible this year one of the best players never to win the title

Looks like a mix of old and new to have got through. Anthony McGill turned around a 7-2 1st session deficit to prevail 10-8 over Robert Milkins. Old sweats like Carter, Gould, Perry and Dott are all through.

We have seen British Irish & Chinese I don't think we have seen a Canadian at the world championships since Cliff Thorburn won it and may say on the very day we stormed the Iranian Embassy
