Cleaning Spectacles - Help!
HELP! Just recently I started wearing glasses, but I just can't get them CLEAN! Huh
I usually put them under the hot water tap, rub some liquid soap on the lenses and then rinse with hot water. Finally wiping them dry with the cloth they came with.
After a few seconds though, they seem to be dirty again! Rolleyes
A quick look online suggests that cleaning kits aren't much good, but I don't know.
SO I was wondering if any of you guys had a surefire way of getting them clean?
Or where I'm going wrong with my method?
Thanks.

Apply a little clear vinegar to a cloth (lint-free if poss), or soft toilet paper, then clean as normal. The acid content of the vinegar should break down any dirt, but will not damage the glass or metal. Then finish up by going back over them with cloth or tissue dipped in warm water...or you'll be smelling vinegar all night!

Yeah maybe. I shall try Shady Cee's method shortly (with normal vinegar, gulp!) and hopefully I'll be sorted then. Smile

It worked, Yay! Smile
I used normal vinegar, toilet roll, and then wiped them around with some more toilet roll dipped in hot water. Clear as a bell!
Now, I guess I'll have to take a bottle of vinegar to work with me.... Rolleyes Smile

I just use the spray stuff you can get at Boots. Use it every day and it works a treat.

Yeah, I might go "on road" tomorrow, see what I can see.
The chippy 'round the corner are starting to get pissed off with me now.
The worst part is when it's raining, and I can't clean my glasses 'til I get home. bladewave

And for my next tip...

Once you've cleaned them, removed excess vinegar and you're happy, spray just little polish (like mr sheen) on the lenses. This will leave thin film on the lens that helps prevent dust/grit sticking to them. Always check instruction on polish first though! Big Grin
