The Sopranos - If you love your gangster films than you'll love this show 9.5/10

How I Met Your Mother - Barney Stinson is awesome Wink 9/10

Supernatural - I know its been recommended already but this show is too good to miss out on 10/10

Entourage - A comedy/drama that follows the life of a rising movie star and his friends. Jeremy Piven is brilliant to watch as talent agent Ari Gold. Also most episodes feature at least 1 celebrity guest appearance 8.5/10

It's already been mentioned but The Wire Is probably the greatest thing to ever be on tv.

Treme Written by the same people who did The wire, It's about the people of New Orleans and how they coping with life after hurricane Katrina. This is a fantastic piece of story telling and the music is the icing on the cake, anyone who likes music should give this a go. (not sure it's aired over here yet though)

Californication This is brilliant comedy, David duchovny is ace in this.

True Blood Another one about vampires but this one has got the gorgeous Anna Paquin in who seems to spend most of her time naked.

Generation kill More of a mini series from HBO, it you liked Band of brothers & The Pacific you'll love this.

Other's you should give a go

The big bang theory
Weeds
Dexter
Vampire Diaries
Stargate Universe
Entourage

Agree with gazfc on Generation Kill, but I would say it has little in common with BoB or The Pacific other than the war setting, Tonely it is very different show. Anyone who is a fan of David Simon ( Homicide, The Wire, Treme) and who hasn't caught this yet, should do so immediately.

How could I forget about BSG, this for me is just behind the wire on terms of greatness. The films are a bit meh though

For anyone else considering BSG, be sure to get the "Mini-series" too as it sets up the whole story. I know a few people who bought box-sets that didn't include it and thought "33" was the first episode...

Has anyone mentioned "Jericho" yet ?

Jericho was pretty cool, shame it never got backed by the network.

I'm a big fan of Leverage, Castle, Supernatural, Spartacus: Blood & Sand and Rome (Jupiter's Cock!) and it's worth checking out House of Cards on DVD if you like something a bit political. If you're after something just downright weird, with more than a hint of Dennis Potter about it, then give Blackpool a go.

Speaking of Dennis Potter l loved his Singing detective series with Michael Gambon in the mid 80's, and Pennies from Heaven with Bob Hoskins in the 70's.
