RE: World Snooker Shootout
I only caught the last hour tonight; bizarre I would say, insofar as the players are all in short-sleeves and casuals, the crowd are constantly rowdy, there's a time limit per shot of 10secs/20secs/25secs (I've forgotten which) and some of the players don't seem to be taking it seriously. The crowd actually booed whenever a safety shot or a snooker were played/laid, and Ronnie O'Sullivan was even booed mockingly when he decided to go for a blue instead of staying on course for a possible 147! That made me laughlaugh!

It's not snooker as we know and love it, but like with Twenty/20 in cricket, they're trying something different and as an experiment it's worth watching to see the players having fun whilst playing. I'll stick with it as I've a few bets on it at tasty odds (Ronnie at 14/1, Mark Allen at 22/1, Jamie Cope at 33/1 and Ricky Walden at 50/1).

RE: World Snooker Shootout
Open FA Cup style draw for each round. Each frame has a 10 minute time limit, whichever player is in front after 10 mins wins. Just seen Neil Robertson pot the winning ball 1 second before the time limit. In the first 5 mins each player has 20 seconds per shot. In the last 5 mins its 15 seconds per shot. Manic stuff eek. I am trying imagine Terry Griffiths and Cliff Thorburn playing each other in this format laugh

To be honest i enjoyed my snooker, but since the John Higgins cop out i dont give snooker any support. IMO with the match fixing allegations snooker is on a downward spiral. Sad to think that the Davis v Taylor final was watched by 18 million, and now the final attracts 2 million tops.

Despite my initial reservations, i have really enjoyed the competition. Very entertaining, with an interesting tactical side. Will never be as good as convetional snooker in my eyes, but lets hope it encourages new people into the sport and give it the lift it needs.
