RE: PFA Player of the Year
I disagree - I think there's been lots of quality players this season. I could think of other players who could have been short-listed - Jack Wilshere has been challenging at the top of the table with Arsenal all season for example. Kevin Nolan's had a great season with newly promoted Newcastle, and Johan Elmander's a good quality forward for Bolton, who have surprised everybody by appearing in the top 7.

The player of the year choices should be spread out among the league, it shouldn't be just the big clubs at the top getting all the honours just because they've got more money and more scope to win the league. If done fairly, there should be contenders from every club, not just the big boys.

From the six listed, it would be great to see Charlie Adam win, as he's been so important to Blackpool's season. But there isn't one stand-out candidate this time round, which reflects the overall mediocrity of this season's Premier League.

Whilst I agree on the timing issue, the "mediocrity" jibe is a pretty silly one as yes this does reflect the Premier League overall but it reflects how the rest of the teams have upped their game!!!

Gareth Bale has done pretty much fuck-all for the most part of this season save for a good goal here and there between injuries - surely his two great games in the Champions League against Inter Milan shouldn't count!

Charlie Adam and Scott Parker have been merely good players made to look better by surrounding themselves with shit! Neither has done anything at the top table have they, where the real prizes are contested and where the real pressures come, not being involved in a relegation struggle where half the fucking division is involvedRolleyes Just because the papers laud these two doesn't mean that anyone with a mind of their own should follow like some mindless sheep.

We've tended to agree on one or two things of late but I seriously don't know how you came to write such an astonishingly delusional statment such as this, some of which dosen't even merit a reply.

How you come to write this I will never understand I know your not a glory supporting fan of your team but this remark may make some people think otherwise!!!

That's my opinion, disagree with me by all means, but I don't like your use of the word "jibe". A jibe is "an insulting remark that is intended to make someone look stupid". Who did I insult? Who am I trying to make look stupid?
Even a United fan that I work with agrees that it's been the worst United team he's seen for a number of years, and it still looks as though they're going to win the league comfortably. If they don't, then it would be an Arsenal team who have lost at home to two promoted teams and spunked away a four-goal lead. Add to that the fact that half the league could still get relegated, and what do you end up with? No really brilliant teams and no absolutely dreadful teams. Sounds pretty much like mediocrity to me. And seeing as we're in the season directly following a World Cup, who can really be surprised?

RE: PFA Player of the Year
You're absolutely right eagle_si! Too many people tend to mistake exciting for quality I reckon.

This season's Premiership is certainly exciting insofar as so many teams are still involved in the relegation struggle and so it's bound to go down to the wire, and hey, let's hope it does from a neutral perspective.

But with excitement like this, where there are only a handful of points covering most of the league, comes mediocrity where no-one has really risen above the rest. Even at the top, what I would consider to be possibly the poorest United team - and certainly squad - that I've seen in maybe nearly twenty years somehow find themselves clear at the top of the league inspite of spunking away late leads at Fulham, Everton and Birmingham and also blowing a two-goal lead at home to West Brom.

To take Scott Parker as an example, he's obviously had a very good season for West Ham, but he does indeed stand out amongst some pretty ordinary team-mates; he didn't exactly shine in the pressure cookeer at Stamford Bridge, where very different pressures apply such as having to win almost every single week just to stand still. These pressures separate the great from the good and ultimately determine which players have the bottle to accumulate medals to their collections as opposed to merely been outstanding in a team of strugglers.

Ask yourselves, how many of the above candidates would seriously contest the La Liga equivalent? And then you may begin to see my point regards the mediocrity of our League and the merits of most of the names on the list. It's not a snobbish dig at the lower-table clubs, just stating fact!

I voted for Charlie Adam, but Giggsy could have been there again, due to continuing professionalism, and still does the business (last night against Chelsea in the Champions League was a great example, he just gets on with it!!

RE: PFA Player of the Year
We're judging the player of the season for this season and not previous seasons regardless of who they once played for & how well they played or didnt play as the case may be.

Scott Parker for me is head and shoulders above everyone. His form hasnt dipped despite playing in a poor team and should West Ham stay up which is looking a great possibility then it'll be due in no small part to Parkers leadership as captain, his heart, his many man-of-the-match performances and some important goals this season.

Charlie Adam would be my runner-up with Nasri in third.

I also think Kevin Nolan and Leighton Baines can count themselves unlucky not to get on the shortlist.

Judge me by my size do you? Hmmm? Hmmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the force. And a powerful ally it is.
