Amir Khan not on Sky Sports confirmed! this is good news
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,1...4,00.html?

Quote:Khan, 24, is due to fight European champion Paul McCloskey on Saturday in Manchester.
But a spokesperson for Sky Sports confirmed: "Khan vs McCloskey will not be shown on Sky Box Office or any of the Sky Sports channels as it has not proved possible to reach an agreement on TV scheduling.
"Financial terms were agreed and a solution was offered for the fight to appear on Sky Sports 3 and Sky Sports HD3 following the decision not to broadcast on Sky Box Office. It was not accepted.
"The Khan vs McCloskey bill had been announced as a Sky Box Office event two months ago. Since then there were several changes to the bill so we made the decision - before the main promotional campaign started and Sky customers booked the event - to give it to Sky Sports viewers.

I hope it on bbc or itv Big Grin

Sweet!!! as long as that shitty Primetime channel dosen't get it I don't care who shows it. Sky Sports 3 still has TBA on the tv guide from 21:00 till 23:00 but I'm not surprised they're not showing it as it would clash with El Clasico, Real Madrid v Barca & they pay a lot of money to show La Liga.

I think it'll be on ITV 3 or 4 if not then ESPN may step in as they could use the 21:45 - 00:30 time slot in between live Serie A & MLS football???

I was just gonna post the same response roystonmerchant.

The fight will cost £14.95 and a small one off registration fee will apply for customers new to Primetime SurprisedSurprisedSurprisedSurprisedSurprised.....BounceBounceBounce..... FUCK OFF!!!

Thery're trying to get people to pay the Sky Box Office fee, now that is just laughable considering they screened a live Strikeforce mma event on Saturday night for something like £9.95, seriously how does this channel stay alive when it only shows PPV events about once every 1 or 2 months, they even tried to charge Liverpool fans £4.95 or whatever to watch a Michel Platini trophy game against some Easten European team, NO!!!

It would be great if the fight was showing on BBC 1 or ITV. I'll listen on Radio 5 Live and would never pay to see it! but one of my local pubs may be showing it for free so I may go there and watch it?.Cool

Primetime press release:

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, April 10 – The April 16th world championship bout between reigning WBA light-welterweight champion Amir ‘King’ Khan and undefeated European champion Paul McCloskey, taking place at the M.E.N Arena in Manchester, will now be screened live on pay-per-view channel Primetime (Channel 480 on Sky). The switch from Sky Box Office comes after a last minute decision from Sky to move the fight from the initially agreed pay-per-view channel to one of its standard sports channels.

Despite having appeared on Sky Box Office on a number of occasions, including his last bout against Marcos Maidana which was voted ‘Fight of the Year’, the late decision by Sky left no alternative but to look at other pay-TV options. The move now means that fans can purchase the fight on Primetime as one-off event, for £14.95, rather than having to subscribe to a monthly package. Primetime is a dedicated combat sports channel which has shown a number of live world title fights including those of British star and current WBC world super middleweight champion Carl Froch.

Asif Vali, Business Manager of Amir Khan, said: “We are delighted to have agreed a deal with Primetime. Amir is a pay-per-view fighter and has proved over the last 12 months the level he is now at by beating some of the very best in his division. Primetime have shown some great fights in the past, including those of Bernard Hopkins, Vitali Klitschko, Evander Holyfield, Carl Froch and Jermain Taylor. We are looking forward to working with them and putting on a great show for all fight fans this weekend.”

Golden Boy Promotions CEO, Richard Schaefer, added: “There are no doubts that Amir is boxing’s next true superstar and, as a world champion, is a fighter that now commands pay-per-view billing. In McCloskey he faces a fighter who has never tasted defeat and will give everything in order to be crowned champion. We are pleased that an agreement has been reached with Primetime to provide UK fans with an outlet to watch the homecoming of one of the fight games rising stars. His return will be a special occasion and he is sure to put on a great show for all those tuning in.”

Promoter Ricky Hatton of Hatton Promotions, stated: “Amir Khan is one of Britain’s best fighters, with a tremendous following. The decision by Sky to move his homecoming fight against Paul McCloskey away from Sky Box Office was disappointing. However, this fantastic bill can now be watched on Primetime, a channel which has a proven track record of showing some of the very best in world boxing. On April 16 we have a great line up of title fights, including world champion Amir Khan against Paul McCloskey, Craig Watson will defend his British welterweight title against Lee Purdy and Rendall Munroe will take on Andrei Isaeu for the WBA super bantamweight interim title - it is an occasion not to be missed.”

To watch “King Khan Returns,” the WBA super lightweight championship fight featuring Amir “King” Khan defending his title against undefeated European Champion Paul McCloskey on April 16 at the M.E.N Arena in Manchester, viewers must register beforehand via our website or our sales line 0871 200 4444 and buy through box office on the night of the event. The fight will cost £14.95 and a small one off registration fee will apply for customers new to Primetime. Those without Sky who can't view Primetime on channel 480 can watch the fight streamed live online. Click the Primetime banner for further information.
