Sky box developed a whirring noise
My Sky box crashed and went into standby yesterday (as it does from time to time) but this time, when it had rebooted, I noticed it had developed a faint whirring noise, almost as though the internal fan is having to work overtime. It's not noisy enough to spoil my enjoyment of whatever I'm watching, but it certainly wasn't there before.
Anyone else experinced this? If it means my Sky box is on the way out I'd rather get it seen to now before it pops completely.

RE: Sky box developed a whirring noise
A similar thing happened to mine around Christmas time, it would freeze and crash a lot. Every time I had to turn it off and on, and mine too developed this noise, though I think mine was a bit louder than yours.
I gave it no thought, and then about 1 month or so later it crashed again, and wouldn't come on! I had to get it replaced (can't remember the cost) and all the stuff on my planner was gone!
I suggest you back up all your planner stuff and get a new one sooner rather than later!
Hope that helps in some way mate.

RE: Sky box developed a whirring noise
Thanks, iamthatjack. I'm not overly concerned about backing up because I rarely have anything on there for longer than a day or two, and I never keep anything. I'm not concerned by costs either because I have cover, but thanks for the reply, I know what I can expect now.

Well your lucky, I have movies, tv shows and some cricket on there I never wanted to delete, so I lost a bunch of stuff! Just keep an eye out for that noise getting louder and that'll be the sign that you need to call up Sky
All the best with it!
