Managed to somehow not record the 2nd half of last night's finale Sad

I'm not a fan of catch-up things, and from previous years, I don't find the Last Night all that appealing anyway. Hmmph.

Love it, watched it for years with family or by self and each year it gets better. For some reason a few years ago they dropped the Fantasia on British Sea Songs by Vaughn-Williams but its back now as a main fixture and just wouldn't be the same without it and it also gets audience participation bobbing up and down to the Hornpipe or dabbing away a fake tear or two for the rather sad Tom Bowling, but then uplifting with the See the Conq'ring Hero Comes and of course after that EVERYONE's favourite Land of Hope and Glory. This year was odd because they showed the crowds recorded earlier and not linking live even to Hyde Park.

I see there's a follow-on show next week which I guess will be stuff from other Last Night events.

BBC4 showed "War Horse at the Proms" last night, which turned out to be from 2014. The stuff with the horse is really well done, such a creative bit of puppetry.

Summer Nights Concert was on the other night on BBC4 (somewhat North American theme), and the Proms proper starts at the weekend Smile

Always scan the pull out section of Radio Times to see who is on and I notice a few Moon-related proms and of course someone playing my favourite and the Nation's favourite tune The Lark Ascending by Vaughn-Williams next month. I also note that there are two concerts featuring John Wilson,one of which is called The Warner Bros story.

Saturday night is the Last Night already!

I went on Monday - Wagner Night. My one Prom this year - I was in a box on the first floor, at the right hand side of the orchestra. It was a brilliant concert and I was pleased to be there - a real flying visit from Plymouth. 15 00 train, 18 15 at Paddington, 18 50 at the RAH, then Sleeper back afterwards.
