RE: Petition
550 has certainly given the petition a bit of respectibilty, I'm just watching the eurotic tv webstream and if we could get shows of a similar nature then I'd be more than happy, from day 1 it's never been about OTT content, it's been about context. I'm fed up having to watch the channels night after night going through the daily ritual of trying not to show the vagina when it's as much a part of the female form as are the breasts. I wonder if any of the MP's are backing this petition or not, afterall they too are a bunch of wankers. But it's been a long hard struggle and I sincerely hope that this petition brings about a change in rules so that we might be able to get back onto a more level playing field with the rest of Europe. Also what's important about a relaxation in the rules is Channel execs would no longer be able to hide behind the Ofcom excuse for a poor show, it would put the power back into their hands as the UK still does have the potential to put out the best babe shows in the whole of Europe. Next target 600, let's hope it doesn't take this long to reach our next milestone, if you haven't allready signed this petition then now is no better time than the present as this could offer us the only realistic route into better times ahead Cool

0.5% sucess rate has given it respectability?

I doubt there is any awareness of this forum outside of this forum, it makes no difference if its an MP or a tramp who has signed it, it will not alter the fact you dont have 100,000 names.

Again, you are preaching to the same people over and over again who are clearly not interested, if you want more interest you need to get this into the public eye more, maybe contact your local radio station or ask for an interview on The One Show to get people thinking.
I think you need to realise that 500 signatures in an online petition is not actually that impressive, I cant understand why you think that this will get things altered

incidentally there is a petition to ban the sale of pornographic magazines in newsagents which has 585 signatures and started pretty much the same day as yours....more people want to ban dirty mags than want to watch this nonsence on the telly,....(i wonder if any of the MPs that you mention signed that)

RE: Petition
Fair point Marco, however like I said this petition could be making a difference for all we know, it certainly gives Ofcom food for thought. We all have to remain optimistic on this having a positive outcome. Sure we could all think you know fuck it, why bother this ain't going to make a blind bit of good. We still have until August before this is closed and anything can happen between now and then. In regards to going on the One Show and talking about this, why not, however I'd think Question Time which is scheduled later on would be a more appropriate ambition. But it should really be a channel rep that does this, afterall it's there business they are needing to protect, it's them and not me who has to deal with the fines. We forum members who have signed this petition have certainly done our bit to get the ball rolling so we have really handed the channel execs a platform on which this argument can be built upon. They should all go to the press, radio and tv and have this out with Ofcom. I would dearly love to see this become a national talking point. Ofcom censors also isn't just about us wanting to see more saucy, spiced up shows, it's about adhering to our democracy and opening up the debate why we feel the need to have such an unfair moderator. We shouldn't be living in a Country where personal morals take precedence over common sense and that's what the main point has allways been about. Anybody who has a passing interest in the adult entertainment business should get right behind this petition as if Ofcom close all the channels down tommorow then you'll only have yourselves to blame for this missed opportunity.

I agree mate, we must never give up hope, or throw in the towel, if you want something bad enough in life you've got to keep moving on. I hope there can be some TV debate or at least get this issue in the public arena, look there's an old saying " THE BIGGER THEY ARE THE HARDER THEY FALL " i can tell you this for sure, as soon as this issue gets into the public arena, i can guarantee Ofcom will start getting very fidgety, and they won't like being in the public spotlight.
Let's hope 2012 will be a great year for us, and a terrible year for OftwatBig Grin

It's one thing to talk definantly in a place like this, urged on by like-minded forum members, but another to go out into the world and make a case for freebie satellite porn shows (as they now exist, let alone as some would like them to exist) to an indifferent/hostile cross-section of the populace on a panel discussion show, etc; and for the babes as well. I once remember seeing Cathy Barry and Jem Stone getting a bit of a roasting by the studio audience of a Vanessa Feltz talk show, back when the babe shows had only been going for two or three years. It seemed very easy to make the two of them (two of the most confident babe performers you'll find) come across as shifty and defensive, and to make the business of appearing on and watching the shows seem sleazy and degrading. I don't think Ofcom would be the main ones fidgeting if this got dragged into the public spotlight in the way you hope it does!

This is though in regards to that, the UK has about 40million odd Internet Users, and the fact it took so long to get the minimum required signatures, I doubt that it would bother Ofcom at all, it could also highlight that, the majority actually don't really care overall.

RE: Petition
Why is this petition giving them food for thought??
i would be suprised if anyone of Ofcom is even aware this petition exists, even if they did, I doubt they are having board meetings you seem to think they are about it.

To think that 550 people signing a petition which requires 100,000 signatures to get it recognised, is...getting you recognised, im sorry but thats just delusional. Whilst I am all for having a go and admire the not throwing in the towel spirit you are showing, you need to sit back and take a reality check on where this is at

But not one of the channel reps has so much as commented on the matter on this thread or anywhere else on the forum, what makes you think they'll happily go on nationwide T.V. to discuss it?

RE: Petition
i think the truth of the matter is that the 'channel reps' probably just do not care, they are running profitable business as it is. Most of the girls on the shows probably dont want to do anything more than they are currently doing anyway.

RE: Petition
Some good points there. This forum is largely preaching to the converted, though new members wander in from time to time, and hopefully some of the examples listed help convince them that babeshows are being singled out for more scrutiny and tighter regulation than any other sector, including religious fanatics who tell people that Ribena and prayer can cure cancer.

Quite a few members contribute examples of malpractice, more than one person could compile on their own, and that will eventually go to the right places.

It was a surprise to learn that another petition, to ban porn mags, has more votes. We need to get the numbers up, and that means getting publicity elsewhere. Ive been trying and Im sure others have too, we neded to keep on until we can get through to that larger audience. (For what its worth, other anti sex petitions have very few votes).

As for getting channel reps on TV debates, just how articulate is the average channel rep? Theres a good reason why solicitors, barristers and PR experts are paid good money. They can think on their feet and anwser totally unexpected questions convincingly. TV hosts and interviewers are skilled at making people look good or bad, whichver the host wants. When was the last time the head of a large reputable company with years experience looked good on an Anne Robinson investigation? No, TV debates are too open to manipulation. Theyd trot out some old dear whose husband runs up phone sex bills or whose 15 year old some watches babe channels without any balance. What we need are ordinary people saying they watch the channels are dont understand why they are censored more than any other form of TV.

Besides not one channel rep has publically lifted a finger to support their employer. This could be because they are happy with call volumes, or because they dont want to rock the boat, or perhaps they are scared of Ofcom retribution.

Gone fishing
