Farewell Joe Frazier

I thought I'd better post something about the passing of Smokin' Joe - one of boxing's true greats.

A real warrior. Such a shame that Ali treated him with such disrespect for which Frazier could never forgive him. RIP.

Joe Frazier boxed in a real golden era for boxing and I think was a bit under appreciated. If he'd boxed at almost any other time he would have made a lot more people realise how great he was.

Boxing has lost another hero. RIP Frazier. A true great of the boxing world.

Joe Frazier boxed in a era without the mass riches, media and constant match fixing that goes on these days in which many will take a fall for a bribe, he was a great boxer never afflicted with this back in the days when most sports were competed with honesty and boxing was no different, RIP to a true warrier.

RIP Smoking Joe

A legend among men. His invincibility now confirmed.

I think you'll find that in that era boxing matches being fixed by the mafia was commonplace and many many fights were fixed, but that's another story. I'm not sure where Joe Frazier ranks exactly in boxing greats, but he's obviously right up there more or less alongside any of them.
