Predator,classic this,commandos get picked off one by one by a skilled alien hunter,set in a central american jungle the atmosphere is excellent and there are great action sequences,the scene where the commandos have a big shootout with guerillas,but once the predator comes onto the scene it gets even better,so many great quotes from this film too,like "Anytime","If it bleeds,we can kill it" and "Get to the chopper!"

An American Werewolf In London,great mix of comedy and horror,an american traveller is attacked by a werewolf and now he is one and goes on killing sprees,the opening scene on the moors is done very well and is good tense horror,and of course the transformation scene is epic,very highly recommended,only good werewolf film to me really

Reservoir Dogs,Tarantino's debut and what a debut,a crime thriller with plenty of snappy dialogue rather than brutal violence,although there is some of that,the film is about a group of criminals brought together by a mob boss to rob a jewellers and it goes tits up,very good and better things were to come with Tarantino

Shaun Of The Dead,very funny romantic zombie comedy "RomZomCom" as some critics have called it,Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright's love of zombie films shows in this film with references to George A. Romero's work,the film follows Shaun who is trying to sort his life out and then there is a zombie plague,a very fun film and even though it is more of a comedy it has some great horror sequences and gore too

A History Of Violence,David Cronenberg's most mainstream film,it is a crime thriller about a man that kills crooks in self defence in a cafe he owns with his wife,he is soon hailed a hero and then a gangster shows up in town claiming this town hero has a shady past as a hitman,very well made thriller here with some of the most brutal violence i have seen in a film,the sound effects make it more brutal,Viggo Mortensen gives his finest performance,even better than Aragorn

The Exorcist - Director's Cut,considered the scariest film ever made but probably considered tame these days,i still find this a disturbing horror,a girl is possessed by the Devil and an old priest performs an exorcism to rid her of the Devil,highlights of this film for me is the brief glimpse of a ghostly white face and in this Director's Cut version you see Linda Blair's spider walk down some stairs,very good

Alien,classic sci-fi horror from Ridley Scott,whose previous work at this point was an advert for Hovis bread,this is the one where the alien bursts out the guy's chest and now the other crew members need to find it and kill it,excellent atmosphere and good horror moments,like Tom Skerritt going through the vent,the chest buster scene is considered the greatest film scene ever,i don't know about greatest but it is great,this film made a star out of Sigourney Weaver and also features great british actors John Hurt and Ian Holm,3 sequels followed over the years and they are good too

Aliens,a sequel superior to the first film,rare in most cases,the first film was more of a atmospheric horror,this time James Cameron directs and it is now an action film,Sigourney Weaver is back as Ripley and more of a bad ass this time,and as the title of the film says,it is Aliens,so there is more than one,great action film with entertaining sequences,the first attack from the aliens on the marines is epic,not many sequels can beat the original but this one does,recommended

Blue Velvet,as soon as the opening scene is over,that sums up this whole film,this is no simplistic drama or feelgood comedy,this is David Lynch doing what he does best : making mental but compelling thrillers,this one follows a college man finding an ear on a field and from there comes under the wrath of a madman and is seduced by Isabella Rossellini,recommended highly but not Lynch's best,his best still to come in the list

For A Few Dollars More,the second of Sergio Leone's Dollars trilogy and the best one,the other two are fine films too but i have always preferred this one,Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef are coolness personified in this spaghetti western as bounty hunters that team up to bring down the outlaw El Indio,as with the Dollars films,there is great camerawork,loads of close ups seems to be his speciality,and the music is awesome,thanks to Ennio Morricone,excellent western
